The men are attending a three-day tyre overhead school, which will end today at the U.S. forest service's aerial project at Cave Junc tion. They will be used as fire bosses, foremen and planners In suppression of large fires and critical fire situations. Robert Mansfield, land staff officer of Siskiyou National forest headquarters in Grants Pass, warned forest users this summer to be especially care ful to avoid the possibility of any fire escaping control. A major part of the training course for experienced per sonnel centered on "plan s" organization, operating the section which gathers and as sembles all information on a fire and makes recommenda tions to the fire boss for con trol force requirements and calculation of probabilities. Medford "Youth, Incorporated" to pro vide spare time Jobs for youngsters 13 to IS yean old was started this week at a meeting in Medford. About 40 people, most of them mothers, helped select a partial steering committee and decided to appoint addi tional representatives of var ious geographical areas of the country. Basically, the organization will be patterned after simi lar ones in large cities which locate jobs for teenagers, keep job records and provide adult supervision and guidance. A junior steering committee con sisting of teenagers selected will function under the adult ed a centrally located down committee. I town office, office furniture donated. Bill Stamps, Med ford, acting chairman, urged the group to expedite their organization to be ready when school closes in June. "The problem will be in creating jobs, not in getting the youngsters to work," he predicted. An attorney will be asked to voluntarily work out the legalities of the organization. The teenage participants will set up their own rules, the group generally agreed. A small membership fee will be charged to help offset ex penses. John Crabb, distributive education instructor, Med Medford Girl Among Eugene Finalists Miss Julia Gandt, 20, her sorority, Alpha Gamma daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Delta. The student has had four years of private voice lessons and plans a vocal selection for her talent presentation in the pageant. A voice major at the university, she has ap peared in various school and varsity shows, is a member of the University Singers, and the holder of a Phi Beta women's and speech honor ary scholarship. Gandt, 1248 Eureka Circle, Medford, is among the nine young women who will com pete for the Miss Eugene Pag eant May 24. Miss Gandt Is a sophomore at the University of Oregon. She is 3 ft. 7 inches tall and weighs 122 pounds.
