Miss Robinson sings the role of Madame Pompon, young Stinson is the count and Miss Hochstatter is Musette. The program will be given tonight and Friday night at the school, 816 Black Oak drive, at 8 p.m. The public is invited. Jaceette Merit Award Candidates Are Listed The final selections of can didates for the Medford Jay ceette's annual merit award of the year have been com pleted, according to officers. The winner is to be announc ed at the award luncheon set for Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m., in North's Chuck Wagon restaurant. Reservations for the lunch eon, to which all interested women are invited, may be made with Mrs. James Rou h i e r, telephone 773-3844. 1 ickets may be obtained from any Jayceette member. Mrs. Margery Green of Bur elson's Ready - To - Wear shop is arranging the style show to follow the award and luncheon. For an added inter est, all the candidates for Miss Rogue Valley will model the fashions. The Miss Rogue Valley contest is sponsored by the Medford Jaycees. Win nie's Beauty salon will fur nish wigs for the models. Musical selections will be furnished by the Checkmates, a quartet from Medford High school. Last year's merit award winner was Mrs. Theodore Earss, sponsored by the American Association of Uni versity Women. Six women have been se lected by the judges to com pete in this year's award. Women Listed They include Mrs. Robert Brown, 2732 Ruth drive; Mrs. James Butler, 1004 East Main street; Mrs. John R. Del lenback, 257 Windor avenue; Mrs. Calvin Smith, 1209 Le Jand avenue, Mrs. Delbert Cantrall, 1208 Loal street, and Mrs. Ralph Hibbs, 190 White Oak drive. Mrs. Brown, sponsored by Delta Omega chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, was se lected as outstanding girl in the chapter. She has also helped on the Heart Fund drive and the annual cam paign of the Oregon Society of Crippled Children and Adults. She is the mother of three children. Mrs. James Butler, sponsor ed by Alpha Beta chapter, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, is the mother of two children and also has two foster chil dren. She is a member of the YMCA board of directors, is active in American Associa tion of University Women, was block captain for the Cancer drive, is a member of Foosevelt Parent Teacher as sociation and is interested in other civic projects. Mrs. Ralph Hibbs, who was entered in the contest by Medford Junior Service Jnague, has four children and the family has been accepted bv the American Field service to have an exchange student in their home next fall. Mrs. Hibbs has participated In Civ ic music. Cancer, Heart and United Medford Crusade drives. She also is active in her church, Parent Teacher work, and Girl Scouting. She Is also chairman for the com ing campaign for the Broad way Theater league. Mrs. John Dellenback, 257 Windsor avenue, was spon sored by Kiwanian Dames. When the legislature is in session, Mrs. Dellenback is secretary to her husband, a state representative. During their stay in that city Mrs. Dellenback also is hostess for young persons from through out the state who are house guests in the Dellenback home. Arrangements are made for them to tour the state house, act as pages for the legislature, attend com mittee meetings and have tea in the home of Governor and Mrs. Mark Hatfield. Mrs. Del lenback also is active in the Presbyterian church, Jackson County Civic Music associa tion, League of Women Vot ers and Cub Scouts. She is the mother of three children. Mrs. Calvin L. Smith, spon sored by the American Asso ciation of University Women, is active in her church, the AAUW for which she was president in 1962-63, the Par ent Teacher association, Civic Music association, American Home Economics association and other organizations. In addition she teaches an adult education class. She is the mother of one daughter. Mrs. Delbert Cantrall, who was entered by Alpha Lambda chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, was awarded first place trophy as the outstand ing ESA member of Oregon in a recent convention. She also has been active in Easter Seal work, helps with muscu lar dystrophy, heart fund, Camp Fire Girls and Brown ies and in her church. She has two daughters. Fifty Plus A program of community singing, cards, games and dancing is planned for the Medford Fifty-Plus club meet ing Friday, May 10 in the St. Mark's Episcopal Guild hall. Fifth street and North Oak dale avenue- The meeting will convene at 12 noon. Those who attend should take sack lunches. All interested per sons are Invited. Evans Valley Garden Club Changes By-laws Evans Valley During a recent meeting of the Evans Valley Garden club, in the Enterprise Grange hall, mem bers voted to change their by laws concerning election of officers. Mrs. Fritz Carlson read and explained problems which resulted from the previous bylaws. Mrs. Vern Orr presented a three-part amendment which was accept ed. Under the new regulation the new officers will take of fice during the closing of the June meeting. Mrs. Carlson appointed Mrs. Walter L. Russ, Mrs. George K. Barrie and Mrs. Charles i: Jackson to serve on the nominating committee. Mrs. Ralph L. Weide, hos pitality chairman, introduced Mrs. Aaron K. Capp, who rec ently returned after spend ing the winter in Colorado. Mrs. Capp spoke regarding a home and garden show which she had attended in Denver. She also showed slides of floral gardens in Old Mexico and Washington state, and of cacti blooming on the desert in Arizona and Texas. Mrs. Ward McCulley was narrator. Horticulture reports were made by Mrs. Robert K. Wales on house plants and ferns. Mrs. Russ explained the pro cedure for keeping lilacs from wilting after picking. She ex plained that the stems of the branches should be pounded or split and dipped in dena tured alcohol for three to five minutes. She also stated that this treatment is equally ef fective for all flowering branches with woody stems. Mrs. McCulley, wild flower enthusiast, showed two spe cies of white trilliums. She explained that while many varieties Bre found in the world, only three are known to grow in southern Oregon. Hostesses were Mrs. Orr, Mrs. Wales and Mrs. Carlson. Mrs. Morris L. Raber and Mrs. Walter L. Russ were pre sented gifts in honor of their birthdays. Club Party Date Set Deadline for reservations for the annual Rogue Valley Country club hard times party set for Saturday, May 11, is 5 p.m., Friday, May 10, those in charge have announced. However, a limited number still are available, they point out. Members should call the club for their reservations. Chairmen are Mr- and Mrs. H. L. Bush, Mr. and Mrs. Austin King, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. DarreH Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Spiegelbereg and Mr. and Mrs. William Tycer. The event will open with a Bum's buffet at 8:30 p.m., featuring Chef Don Stewart's mulligan stew, wieners and beans. Dancing will continue from 9 pm. to 1 a.m., with music furnished by Bob An derson's combo. Members plan to attend in attire in keeping with the theme. Decorations will be in the hobo jungle theme under di rection of Mrs. Tycer, assisted by other members of the com mittee. William Clark, club board member in charge of social activities, and Mrs. Clark are general chairmen. The party is open to club members and their out-of-town guests. -t Hoover PTA Program Set; To Install A presentation of accom plishments will be given at the Hoover Parent Teachers association meeting on Friday, May 10. The program, "Self Expression Through the Arts'" will include selections by the Hoover band under the direc tion of Ronald Bartlett. the chorus, led by Mrs. Frank Blaar, and an art work exhibit by the students. The program will open at 2:30 p.m. and the business meeting will follow in the cafeteria. Officers for the 1963 - 1984 school year will be installed at this meeting. Visit Prospect - Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Neville and infant daughter, Jo Anna, from Lo gan, Utah, are visiting Mr. Neville's parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Neville. The son recently was graduated from a Logan college with a degree in forestry. He is a former Prospect resident. O'Brien - Mr. and Mrs. George Cardinal have return ed after being in Portland as guests of Col. and Mrs. Martin Moshberger.
