The purpoec ii to de tect any winter damage be. fore it becomes serious en' ough to cause harm to the rest of the building or Its con tents. Patching an old roof is sel dom advisable. Most roofing wears uniformly, and the first leak is a sign that others proD- ably will develop soon. In fact, climbing on an old roof to patch it often causes other leaks. Today, the selection of sat isfactory roof color is easier than ever before. Asphalt shineies. for example, the most popular roofing material, are now available in a variety of attractive colors, including white, rich earth color, blends, and Dastels. Color counts. In planning the exterior color scheme of either a new house or an older one, most color authorities agree that a good place to start is the roof - usually the largest un broken area of a house. Wipe up spatters and spills Immcdiatly before they hard en. Clean brushes, rollers and other tools as soon as you finish using them.
