aayjpj Easter Sunrise INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR - The Rev. Jacob DeBruin, (right) Muskegon, Mich., arrived in Medford Monday for the final ten days of the West Coast extension session of the International Child Evangelism Institute of Michigan. Mr. DeBruin is international director of the fellowship. He will speak for the graduating banquet of the institute Thurs day evening. Shown with him is Mrs. Nina Gain, Medford director of the Child Evangelism fellowship program. International Leader Is Banquet Speaker The Rev. Jacob DeBruin Muskegon, Mich., internation al director of the Child Evan gelism fellowship, will be the banquet speaker Thursday, April 18, to conclude the first West Coast extension session of the International Child Evangelism Institute of Mich igan. The dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Medford Baptists Schedule Easter Services Two worship services will be held Sunday morning at the First Baptist church, meeting in the Wilson school auditorium, Grand and Co rona aves. The Rev. Bernard E. Andrews, pastor will speak at both services. The services will be held at 8:15 and 10:50 a.m. Mr. Andrews' message will be "Three Looks at the Resurrection." A mixed quartet will sing for the later service a portion of the Easter cantata, "No Greater Love." Maynard Had ley will sing the "Holy City" at the early service. The chapel choir will sing at both services. A complete Sunday school, fully departmentalized with classes for all ages will be held at 9:40 a.m. Sunday at 7 p.m. several musical numbers will be pre sented. They will include a number by the choir, a men's quartet, a trumpet trio, and a French horn and piano duet. Mr. Andrews will speak on the subject "I Am." The midweek service of the church is held on Wednes day at 7:30 p.m. with Bible study and prayer followed by choir rehearsal. Friday evening. April 19, the Shasta-Cascade Baptist Men's fellowship will hold their annua meeting and din ner at the Wilson school cafe teria at 6:30 p.m. Men from several churches in the area will attend. Wisner, Los Angeles, who is training teachers at the institute, will also speak. Local churches will present the music. Reservations for the dinner must be made by April 15. The public is invited, accord ing to Mrs. Nina Gain, Med ford director of the Child Evangelism Fellowship. Jehovah's Witnesses Announce Activities Sunday Jehovah's Witness es will hold the first in a new series of Bible discourses. It is entitled "Freedom From Tension in a Troubled World," and the featured speaker is Ken Molinsky. The lecture will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by the weekly Watchtower study. The other weekly meetings will be held as usual. The service meeting and theocrat ic ministry school beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and the various study groups will meet at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. First Anniversary Of Bellview Church Ashland - The first anni versary of the Bellview Com munity Church of Christ, 1001 Tolman Creek rd., will be observed Sunday. Members of the church school will open the service singing "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "Every Year at Easter Time." At the 11:15 a.m. service, tile Unity choral group will sing "The Holy City Anthem' by Noble Cain. Soloist for the anthem will be Mrs. H. H. Bresee. Mrs. Bresee will also sing "Open the Gates of the Temple" by Mrs. Joseph Knapp. Keith Kendall is a guest singer. The Unity choral group will sing "He Is Risen" in the processional and "All the Air With Joy is Rife" in the recessional. Mrs. Thomas Lowe is director of both groups. Miss Sandra Myers will be at the organ and Mrs. Lowe will be at the piano. The Rev. Katharine Bos worth, minister of Unity church, will have for the sub ject of her lesson "The Resur recting Life." The prayer ministry will meet Wednesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. Those attending are to take their lunch. At 1 p.m. the study class will meet. Easter Message Listed for RLDS Priest Tomas Schuyler will deliver the Easter message at the Sunday 11 a.m. worship at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sermon topic will be "A New ness .of Life." The scripture will be on John 11:25. A medley of Easter hymns for the service will be pre sented by a trio composed of Mrs. Harvey Gadberry, Mrs. Harley Davidson, and Miss Ann Correy, arranged and di rected by Mrs. Harry Spintlg. Other activities of the day will include a potluck dinner to be given by the women's department of the church in the church annex at 5 p.m., with Grants Pass congrega tion as invited guest. Following the dinner a sacrament service of the Lord's Supper with portrayal of the Upper room will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel. This will be a combined service with Grants Pass members. Southern Oregon District Missionary Jack Hedal will be the speaker for the hour, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Petrie, Grants Pass, will sing a duet. Nursery will be provided at ail services. - Services Speakers and Topics Told; Public Invited Sunrise Easter services are being planned by many of the local churches. Several com bined community services will also be held with the public Invited to attend any. of the services. The annual Easter sunrise service will be held Sunday at 5 30 a.m. at Huener's Butte near Jacksonville sponsored by the youth committee of the Medford Ministerial associa tion. The site may be reached by either going west on West Main st. to South Stage rd.. turn left and keep left to the top of the hill, or by leaving Medford on Stewart ave., the service is held west of Mem ory Gardens Memorial park The Rev. W. E. Martin, president of the Medford Min isterial association will speak His topic will be 'The Unfin ished Story." The youth choir of the First Presbyterian church, directed by the Rev. David Brown, will sing. Young people participating will include Charles Henney, Central Church of Christ, prayer; Douglas Mann, First Christian, scripture; Jarl Dy rud, Westminster Presbyter ian, song leader; and James Pope, First Southern Baptist, benediction. Members of the Boy Scout troop of First Meth odist church will usher. Traunaiian Sanctuary The pilgrimage to the top of the mountain from the Traunesian Sanctuary for sun rise services will begin Sun day at 4:30 a.m., according to Dallas Purcell. The service will be held on the cliffs overlooking the val ley and the Table Rocks. The service is open to public and those attending the service are invited to Join the Pur cells for breakfast following the service. The Sanctuary is located 2Va miles from the intersec tion of Beagle and Meadows rds , where a sign points the way. Church of Brethren The annual sunrise Easter service, sponsored by the Church of Brethren, will be held on Roxy Ann at 5:30 a.m. Those needing rides will meet at the church, 345 Mary st at 5 a.m. The Rev. M. S. Frantz, Nampa, Idaho, will speak. Following the service break fast will be served at the church by the Women's fel lowship. Faith Adrent Christian Sunrise services at Faith Advent Christian church, 2460 Roberts rd., will be held at 5:30 a.m. Breakfast will fol low the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Gossell, 2185 Stewart ave. Friends Church A sun rise service for junior high and high schoolers on a hilltop at the J. W. Smith farm, 3637 Old Stage rd., Sun day at 5:30 a.m. will begin services of Medford Friends church. A 6:30 a.m. breakfast, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Deane Roberts and Mrs. Jack Willcuts, will be held at the church, 2525 Merriman ave., for the young people follow ing the service. St. Mark's Episcopal The sunrise choral Euchar ist will be held at 6:30 a. m. at St. Mark's Episcopal. Mu sic will be furnished by St. Mark's senior choir, directed by John Drysdale, with Mrs. Ernest C. Conrad at the organ. Selections will include the Introit, "I Know That My Re deemer Liveth" by Handel and the anthem "He Is Risen." St. Peier'i Lutheran "Come as you are, stay in your car" is the motto for the Easter sunrise service spon sored by St. Peter's Lutheran church. 1020 East Main St., at the Starlite Drive-In theatre on South Pacific highway. The service is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. The Rev. John E. Simon, pastor of the church, will con duct the service. The singing will be led by recordings of the choir and pipe organ of the church, Al Huntemann. conducting, and Mrs. Richard Smith at the console. Serving as general chair man of arrangements for this service is Virgil Wolff, pres ident of the Medford chapter of the Lutheran Laymen's League. Ashland - Community Eas ter sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. in the Butler Me morial band shell, Lithia park, with the Rev. Lawrence May delivering the message. The public school faculty quartet will furnish the music. In the case of rain it will be held at the Church of the Nazarene, Fourth and C sts. Grace Lutheran Ashland - A sunrise service will be conducted at the Lithia Drive-in theater on Easter at 6 a.m. The service is being conducted under the auspices of Grace Lutheran church, Ashland. The sermon will be deliv ered by the pastor of the con gregation, the Rev. Albert R. Nickodemus on the subject, "An Easter Sermon given by Simon Peter." Those attend ing the service may stay in their car with the music and service coming by the theatre speaker system. Music will be by recordings, mostly made by members of Grace Lutheran choir. The offering will be divid ed equally between Oregon Easter Seals, the uood btiep herd Home of Terra Bella for retarded children and the In ternational Lutheran Hour. The Men's Club of Grace Lu theran is giving as a gift, a gold lapel cross to the first 200 persons to arrive at the service. Union Sunday School Brownsboro - Sunrise serv ices will be held at the Wool folk lake near Brownsboro Sunday at 5 a.m. The Rev. John Kissee of Trail Commun ity church will speak. Break fast will follow the service with each family taking its own food.
