APRIL 11. 19(3 I A 4-H NEWS Lake Creek Club A special meeting of the Lake Creek General 4-H club was field at the Lake Creek Community hall recently. Two films pertaining to agricultural project were shown under the direction of George Barr of Albers Feed and Farm supply, Medford. In observance of National 4-H Week, a committee of t I.,,!.. Club members are to discuss the concession stand with their Individual leaders. Application cards for 4-H summed school must be re turned to the county exten sion office by April 22. The sewing and cooking club members will observe "Rural Life Sunday" April 21 at Brownsbore Communi ty church. Other club mem bers and parents are welcome to attend as a 4-H club group. Lauramay nooie, Reporter Pegasus Club Th ffaala Point Desert Pec asus 4-H Horse club met re cently with 17 members and four visitors present. Aude Espourteille gave a report on her trip to France. Mrs. Dunn gave a talk on summer school and the re gional 4-H leader workshop, which will be held Saturday, April 20, at the fairgrounds in Medford. Karyl Bishop and Sue Welshemlmer, Junior leaders under the supervision of Mr. Dunn, instructed the younger members in howmanship. Kathy McQuire and Dale West, junior leaders assisted by Glna Krambeal, gave a demonstration on the proper way to bridle a horse. Glna Krambeal, Reporter Garden Club The Applegate Vegetable 4-H Garden club met recent ly at the Lester Hill home. There was election of of ficers: Danny Christensen, president, John Hill; vice president: Judy Drake, secro tary; Brad Brewster, reporter; and Steve Brewster, game and recreation leader. We discussed a name for the new graden club, but didn't decide on any, and everyone is to come with an idea for a name next meeting. Wesely Hill showed us some popcorn the Hills had raised last year. He showed us how to shell It and then he popped it and we had it with our re freshments which was served by Mrs. Hill. The next meeting will be at Danny Christensen's home on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. and a film "Grow Your Own" will be shown. This film will show the essentials of good Hardening, preparation o f soil, how to lay out a garden, planting, transplanting, cul tivating, weed and pest con trol, and watering. Parents are Invited to at tend. Brad Brewster, Reporter Eyes and Knives The Lake Creek 4-H Sew ing and Cooking club held an (ill-day work shop at the Arm itage home recently. The morning was spent in enke baking, fancy yeast rolls and nut bread, while the bread was rising, the girls started to make their clothing articles, Cooking Junior leader an nounced that for a community service u miscellaneous can nod goods collection for the Shirley Robertson f a ml 1 y , whose home burned March 23, would be appreciated. Only a few items were saved from the home. Mrs. Noble, cooking leader; Elaine Myer and Lauramay Noble, junior leaders, report ed on attending the March J 'kson County 4-11 leaders association meeting in Med ford. It was tentatively planned to attend Brownboro Sunday school April 21 as a 4-1 1 group to observe 4-H Rural Lid Sunday. The 4-H pledge will be given by the members lor the program. The next meeting will be held April 13 at Les Brad show's home The Eagle Point Knit Wits 4-H club and leader, Mrs. James Wilson, will be guests. Argument Results In Bullet Wound The Dalles -Itlpll- Edward Bislg, 31, was listed in critical condition today from a bullet wound in the neck suffered during an argument at Rufus, 30 miles east of here, Tues day. Sherman County Sheriff Leo Roberts said Bisig was shot during an argument with Dolphus Baker, 48, Rufus, in front of Baker's garage. Bak er told the sheriff the shoot ing was in self defense.
