Holy Week Events At Sacred Heart Holy Week services in Sa cred Heart Catholic church will begin at 8 a.m. Palm Sunday with the traditional blessing and distribution of the palms, followed by a sol emn procession around the church. Mass will be cele brated immediately after the procession. Young People to Join Zion Church Two years of instruction and catechism will culminate in church membership for 19 young people of Zion Luth eran church, Sunday, when the order for confirmation will be administered to them during the 11 a.m. worship service. Palms Benediction Scheduled Sunday In accordance with ancient traditions of the church, the Benediction of the Palms will lake place at the 8 a.m. holy eucharist at St. Mark's Epis copal church Sunday. The Palms, imported from the Holy Land for the pur pose, will adorn the altar, be carried by the choir in proces sion, and the remainder will be fashioned into small cross es by members of the Junior Altar guild, and be distrib uted lo worshipers on Palm Sunday. These crosses arc retained until Ash Wednesday of the following year when they are burned at Hie start of another Lenten season. The Rev. Qeorge R. V. Confessions will be heard Monday through Friday im mediately preceding and fol lowing the evening services and again on Saturday be tween the hours of 1 and 5:30 and 7 and 10 p.m. Easter Vigil ceremonies will begin at 11 p.m. Holy Saturday, followed by mid night mass or the first Mass of Easter. Confraternity of Christian Doctrine catechism classes for students of public grade schools will be held at the usual hour, 10 a.m., tomor row with mass at 11 a.m There will be no classes however, on Holy Saturday. Seminary Examinations At 9:30 tomorrow morning at St. Mary's Grade school seminary entrance examina tions will be given for all boys of the eighth grade level, or older, who may be interested in entering the seminary next fall. These ex aminaions must be taken be fore entrance to the semin ary can be arranged. The regular Monday in quiry class for adults will meet at 7:30 p.m. next week, but the Thursday night class will not be held, according to the Rev. G. N. Lulay, who conducts the sessions. The Tuesday night adult educa tion class is also cancelled because of. other Holy Week services. Ascension Lutheran A communion service has been scheduled at Ascension Lutheran church, 2501 Bar nett rd., Friday at 7:30 p.m. Sacred Heart Catholic Services at Sacred Heart Catholic church will be held in the church Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. for students of the public schools. The offi cial liturgical commemoration of the passion and death of the Lord, commonly known as the mass of the pre-sancti-fied, will Uire place at 7:30 p.m. Holy communion will be distributed. St. Mark's Episcopal The th.'ee hour vigil at the Cross will be observed Good Friday at St. Mark's Episcopal church from noon until 3 p.m. The Rev. George R. V. Bol ster, rector, and the Rev. Series Scheduled At Church of Christ The Church of Christ, 1701 West Main st., will present a series of services April 7 to 14 featuring Vance Car ruth of Bellflower, Calif., each evening at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a 30 minute morning service. Mon day through Friday, at 7 a.m. Mr. Carruth is an experi enced speaker. In 1954 he was designated second best speaker in the United Stales in a nationwide contest spon sored by Toastmastcrs Inter national. He has taught at the Uni versity of Southern Califor nia and presently serves as debate coach and director of forensics at George Pepper dine college in Los Angeles. At this service the Kev. Robert W. Tull, minister of the church, will preach the final sermon in his Lenten series on the parables of Jesus' last days, a sermon based upon the parable of the marriage feast found in Matthew 22. The annual Maundy Thurs day communion service of the church will be held on Thursday, beginning at 8 p.m. at the home of Dr. and M.S. John R. Watson, 115 Blacr Oak dr. This service will be based upon the celebration of the Lord's Supper, and will include appropriate music by the choir. LDS Members to General Conference Donald E. Phair, Klamath Falls, Klamath stake presi dent, headed a delegation from the stake who are in Salt Lake City, Utah, attend ing the general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Medford Bishops Dwaine Nelson and David L. Peterson and Nelson Clinton Phelps, member of the bishopric, are among the several dozen at tending from the stake. Saturday evening a gen eral meeting of the priesthood in Salt Lake City will be heard in Ashland at a priest hood meeting by private line. All members of the priest hood may attend the Ashland meeting, it was stated. Unitarian Fellowship The Unitarian f e 1 1 o wship will hear an address Sunday by Vincent Oredson, Ashland. The topic of the address will be "The Way to Peace." The fellowship meets at the Red Cross building, 60 Hawthorne ave. at 11 a.m. Last Sunday a nominating committee was selected by the membership to present a slate of officers to be voted on for the coming year. Salvation Army Officer to Speak Major William Ricken will speak at bolh the 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. services of First Church of the Nazarene, 520 North Holly St.. in the ab sence of the pasior, the Rev. Harold M. Sanner, who is currently holding services in a mission station at Trinidad, West Indies. Major Ricken is head of the local unit of the Salvation Army. His message topic for the morning service is "Be yond Courage" and for the evening is "King of Kings". Perry Christiansen, min ister of music and education for the church, announces that the sanctuary choir will sing "Ivory Palaces" and the Fishermen male quartet will sing "Shall I Crucify My Saviour" for the morning service. Music in the 7 p.m. service will include a trio by Leah Weaver, Sue Myers, and Cheryl Stewart, a duet by Mrs. Bill Brewster and Velma Myers, a vocal solo by Mrs. Cliff Shafer, and a clarinet solo by Judy Arnold.
