ApproxinxV'ipy 30,09 stu dents and 3,500 teachers throughout Oregon will par ticipate this year in school conservation tours. Some counties hold their tour in the spring and some in the fall, depending on the wishes of the local school administra tion. Dr. Quentin B. Copies of the circular are available from the county extension office. El Dorado is being plant ed in Ofttgub on a Mmitcd commercial basis, Dr. Zielin- observes. Harvested just after D'Anjou and usually with Cornice, the fruit is an attractive pale yellow color when ripe. The researcher notes that i El Dorado, n non-patented va riety, is likely to be grown more widely in the future in : preference to D'Anjou and Pack ham's Triumph because ! of its high quality, attractive ' appearance and late-keeping I characteristics. Most Promising El Dorado appears to be the ' most promising new winter pear variety among the many ; tested by the experiment sta tion over the past years.
