"hi Dorado, n winter-type
pear which fits well into the
late marketing season, is the
subject of a new information
circular just published by the
Oregon State university agri
cultural experiment station.
Dr. Quentin B. Zielinski,
issoclate professor Of horti-!ski
culture, wrote the circular
which describes the variety
which was first found in Call-
Licenses Needed
For Milk Sales
Sal env Farmers, who keep
on 1 y e nou gh milk cows or
goats for family use during
most of the year, may find
they have a milk surplus as
greening pastures increase the
production.
The state department of ag
riculture reminded this week
that dairymen bottling thin
a:rh and selling it as ra
milk are operating "jug dair

El Dorado is being plant
ed in Ofttgub on a Mmitcd
commercial basis, Dr. Zielin-
observes. Harvested just
after D'Anjou and usually
with Cornice, the fruit is an
attractive pale yellow color
when ripe.
The researcher notes that
i El Dorado, n non-patented va
riety, is likely to be grown
more widely in the future in
: preference to D'Anjou and
Pack ham's Triumph because
! of its high quality, attractive
' appearance and late-keeping
I characteristics.
Most Promising
El Dorado appears to be the
' most promising new winter
pear variety among the many
