A short business meeting followed, with Master Harold Van Hoy presiding. New members voted into membership were Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Dodd and Hilda Crowell. Esther Fabric spoke about the cancer dinner which will be March 30. Van Hoy commended the members for their interest in the visitation project. The forthcoming visitation March 14 at Live Oak Grange was discussed, and plans were made to care for the visitors. The lecturer, Irene Cassiriy, presented a program of col ored slides of Alaska. They were shown by Bill Green, with a commentary by Mrs. Green. Sign Off I Oregonian Edition Delayed by Fire Portland-flirn-A short cir cuit in a ceiling light in the Oregonian pressroom Tuesday afternoon caused the Oregon ian's first afternoon edition tn run about 20 minutes late. A spokesman for the paper said there was very little fire damage, but the heat set off a sprinkler system which doused rolls of paper and the presses. He said damage was estimated at $1900 because cf water. The fire started in the bulb. set fire to some dust and spread to the celling. The pressrs were shut off for about 33 minutes while workers cleaned them to pre vent wiring and motor dam age jrom the water. Medford was high bidder Monday for 9.450.000 hoard feet of national forest timber in the Lower Woodruff blow down area. Prosnect Ranaar district, Rogue River National forest. Forest Supervisor C. E. Brown reported the hieh hid totaled $166,595.60, compared wun ine lorest service ap praised nrice for the timher of $158,715.10, an increase of 5 per cent. Next high bidder in the Oral auction for th timher was Fir-Ply, Inc., Medford. The timber in the unit con sisted of 5,310,000 board feet of Douglas-fir bid at $22 per thousand board feet, 2,330, 000 board feet of pondcrosa pine, western white pine, and sugar pine bid at $13.15 per thousand board feet, 1,810,000 board feet of white fir and other species bid at S7.15 ner thousand board feet.
