Cisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers think their relations with Jack Fisher ana Bill Skowron are going to be long and profitable. Fisher and Skowron were " Involved in major winter deals the Giants acquiring the pudgy pitcher from the Baltimore Orioles and the Dodgers obtaining the rugged first-baseman from the New York Yankees. Fisher made his competl tive debut for the Giants Tuesday with four shutout in nings in a 4-1 victory over tne Boston Red Sox while bkow. ron ran his hitting streak to five straight hits In two games in a 4-3 triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals Fisher and Billy Pierce shut out the Red Sox with three hits for eight innings before Boston scored a run off rookie Bob Bishop. Joe Amai fitano singled in the fifth and seventh innings and went on to score the Giants' first two runs. Skowron Starts Rally Skowron, 5-for-5 in his last two games, touched off the Dodgers' winning two-run seventh-inning rally with a aingle. Frank Howard's single, a wild pitch, two walks by rookie Harry Fanok and an error by Dick Groat completed the rally. , Bill White had three hits for the Cardinals. . The Yankees could have used Skowron's bat Tuesday when Frank Funk, Claude Raymond and rookie Larry Maxie combined to limit them to one hit in pitching the Milwaukee Braves to a 5-0 victory. Raymond allowed the only hit a scratch single by Tom Tresh. The world cham pions now have lost three of four exhibition games. Don Lee, 8-8 last season, yielded a triple and a double to the first two hitters he i faced and then didn't permit another hit for four innings as the Los Angeles Angels de featcd the Cleveland Indians, 6-1. Rookie catcher Ed Kirk Patrick contributed a single and a triple to the Angels' at tack. Phillies Top .ltd! The Philadelphia Phillies cored four runs in the third Inning and six in the fourth to defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 12-8. There were 24 hits, in cluding homers by the Reds' Jerry Lynch and Gordy Cole man and the Phillies' Don Dc metcr. Bay Culp pitched three hltless innings and struck out four for the Phillies. Dave Nicholson drove in two runs with a double and scored another after a single to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 3-1 win over the New York Mcts. Nicholson also bruised his knees and the heel of his right hand trying to make a catch against the outfield wall in the ninth in ning but his injuries arc not believed serious. The Pittsburgh Pirates vent 10 innings to win their first exhibition game of the spring, 7-6, over the Washing ton Senators. Pitcher Frank Bork won the game with a run-producing 10th- inning single. Gene Alley had three hits for the Pirates. Pitcher Norman Bass ho mered in the eighth inning to snap a 4-4 tie and pave the way for the Kansas City Attv letics' 7-4 triumph over the Minnesota Twins. Chuck Esse- gian, acquired recently from the Cleveland Indians, dou bled with the bases filled for the Athletics. Dave Roberts' double and a single by Bob Lillis paced the Houston Colts from behind to a 6-5 decision over the Chi cago Cubs. Jim Schaffer hit a two-run homer and Ken Hubbs a triple for the Cubs. The teams split their two game scries. The Baltimore Orioles scored their fourth straight victory of the spring when they beat the Detroit Tigers, 7-2, in a night game at Miami, Fla. Luis Apariclo homered and stole two bases for the Orioles and Jerry Adair also homered. Al Kaline homered for the Tigers. The Methodists beat First Baptist 24 to 12 with Bob Morris getting 12 points and Darrell Wells eight. Ron Smith scored six for the Bap. tists. LDS trimmed First Pres byterian 38 to 26 with L. Gor don getting 20 points. Herb Valce put in 10 for Presby terian. Friends, Victors Consolation games saw the Medford Friends tip First Nazarene in overtime 19 to 17 in the junior division and Jacksonville Presbyterian down Zion Lutheran 30 to 26 in the senior high league. Sportsmanship awards went to Phoenix Nazarene in the junior high loop, First South ern Baptist in the senior high circuit and Eastwood Baptist in the adult league. Trophy presentations were made by Don Hanlin, sports director for KMED radio and television stations. Sacred Heart Catholic ear lier won the adult league title. GOVERNOR TO JOIN Portland - (UPD - Gov. Mark Hatfield announced here Tuesday he would join the Portland delegation in its bid before the U.S. Olympic com mittee in New York next Monday. The committee is to select the American city to compete with the cities from other nations to be host to the 1968 Olympic Games. Lewis and Clark Nicks Oshkosh in NAIA Tourney Kansas Clty-IUPD-Jim Bou tin's layin with one second to play gave Lewis and Clark of Portland a 75-74 victory over Oskosh State of Wiscon sin Tuesday in an opening. round NAIA tournament game. Lewis and Clark, seeded 14th, missed three allots in the last 11 seconds before Boutin scord the winner. . Boutin led the Oregon team with 23 points and Dean Aus tin had 27 for the losers. The five heralded teams that fell included third-ranked Winston-Salem (N.C.) beat en 64-60 Tuesday by unseeded Transylvania of Kentucky. (UPD Good fishing in the Klamath river was being reported by many fishermen during the past two weeks. "Bud" Mitchell, Medford, Ore., owner of a truck line hauling for a plywood mill here, spent about two hours fishing with roe and night crawlers and made a nice catch of steelhead last week. Fishing with Mitchell were Lawrence G. Sprunt, a ply wood representative of North Carolina, and Jim Roads and Ted Jensen, both from Happy Camps, who are known to know the best spots for the various times of the year. L. A. ZEPHYR OWNERS MEET Chicago - IUPD - The owners of the Chicago Zephyrs were to meet today to discuss and vote on a proposal to move the National Basketball as sociation team to Baltimore. Club President Dave Trager said a news conference would be held at noon (EST) Thurs day to announce the result of the meeting. Trager said he expected the meeting to last "a long time." House Bill 1458 comes up for public hearing Monday, March 18. at 3 p.m. in the House chambers and members of the council will discuss this measure here Saturday night.
