seventh innings and went on
to score the Giants' first two
runs.
Skowron Starts Rally
Skowron, 5-for-5 in his last
two games, touched off the

seventh-inning rally with a
aingle. Frank Howard's
single, a wild pitch, two
walks by rookie Harry Fanok
and an error by Dick Groat
completed the rally. , Bill
White had three hits for the
Cardinals.
. The Yankees could have
used Skowron's bat Tuesday
when Frank Funk, Claude
Raymond and rookie Larry
Maxie combined to limit them
to one hit in pitching the
Milwaukee Braves to a 5-0
victory. Raymond allowed the
only hit a scratch single by
Tom Tresh. The world cham
pions now have lost three of
four exhibition games.
Don Lee, 8-8 last season,
yielded a triple and a double
to the first two hitters he
i faced and then didn't permit
another hit for four innings
as the Los Angeles Angels de
featcd the Cleveland Indians,
6-1. Rookie catcher Ed Kirk
Patrick contributed a single

heel of his right hand trying
to make a catch against the
outfield wall in the ninth in
ning but his injuries arc not
believed serious.
The Pittsburgh Pirates

first exhibition game of the
spring, 7-6, over the Washing

gian, acquired recently from
the Cleveland Indians, dou
bled with the bases filled for
the Athletics.
Dave Roberts' double and a
single by Bob Lillis paced the
Houston Colts from behind to
a 6-5 decision over the Chi
cago Cubs. Jim Schaffer hit
a two-run homer and Ken
Hubbs a triple for the Cubs.
The teams split their two
game scries.
