(UPI) Accident Injures Three Residents Three - Medford residents were slightly injjured in a two-car collision Sunday night, according to city police. None, however, required hos pitalization, officers said. Hurt were Margie Marie Gartin, 17, of 1792 East Mc Andrews rd., Wade Arnold Rued, 19, of 1213 North Riverside ave., and Ace Paul Jewell, 18, of 401 East 12th tt. They were passengers in a car driven by Robert Leroy Patten, 18, of 2055 Sunset dr. . The Patten vehicle collided about 9:20 p.m. at Riverside ave. and Sibth St. with a car driven by Ruth Esther Wright, 31, of 2011 Archer dr. Mrs. Wright was cited for making an improper left turn. No citations were issued in a two-car collision about 4 p.m. on West Main st. be tween Laurel and Mistletoe Bts. Drivers involved were Ed ward Paul Buck, 44, of 16 Quince st., and Melvin Allen Pieper, 66, of 320 Bennett st. Georgia Hilton Jack, 34, Central Point, was cited for violation of basic rule after her car hit a lane divider on Highway 6 2about 10 p.m. Sunday, went out of control and turned over. She was not injured, officers reported. OBITUARIES HELEN L. PHILLIPS Funeral services for Helen L. Phillips, of 727 Grant st., who died at her home Satur day evening, will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Perl Funeral home. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church will officiate. Inter ment at Hillcrest Memorial park will be private. Mrs. Phillips, the daughter of Guy F. and Mamie Thomp son, was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 13, 1907. In 1932, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was married to Harry C. Phil lips, who survives. She came to Medford in 1945, and for several years was employed as a bookkeeper for the Med ford Hotel. She was a mem ber of the Episcopal church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Thompson, Kenncwick, Wash.; William F. Thompson, Washington, D. C; Lee Thompson, Denver, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Ogelvie, Den v e r, Colo. Boys Found After Night in Woods Zigzag, Ore.-IUPD-Two eight-year-old boys were found Sun day morning in snow-covered woods near here after being missing since Saturday afternoon. A search by about 100 mrAi began at daybreak Sunday. The boys, Anthony Ferraris nad Mike Anderson, had set out about 2 p.m. Saturday to walk along Hunchback Trail, which runs south from Zigzag Ranger Station nine miles to Devil's Peak Lookout. Clackamas county police said the boys were found in good condition about 7:30 a.m. after sleeping all night under a tree. The boys are the sons of Mrs. and Mrs. Edwin Ferraris and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Ander son of Zigzag. . The Ferraris boy had a jack et for warmth, but the An derson boy had on only jeans and a flannel shirt. Dr. Richard Nelson will explain the visual aid clinic scheduled later this month, and Mrs. Marian Mont gomery will talk on teaching the special class in the Med ford schools. Mr. Williams was born Feb. 14, 1887 in Hill county. Texas, the son of William H. and Ida Williams. He owned and oDorated a freight line in Stamford, Tex., until moving to Arizona in 1944. In 1947 he came to the Rogue valley. Flanders, 67, formerly of Medford, who died Friday in Redding, Calif., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Con ger-Morris downtown chapel. The Rev. Robert E. Cull of the Assembly of God church will officiate. Committal will be in Hillcrest Memorial park. Mr. Flanders was born Sept. 14, 1895 in Hos Springs, Ark. He came to southern Oregon from California in 1927, and left here in April, 1961. He was a member of the Assembly of God church. Survivors include his wife, Ethel L. Flanders; three sons, James Flanders, Lakehead, Calif.; Allen Flanders, Red ding, Calif.; and Robert A. IV Ranger Station Building Finished Cave Junction Construc tion of the Illinois Valley ranger station office building at Cave Junction has been completed, at a cost of $25 837. Sidewalks, curbs, parking space and landscaping win not be completed until late spring, but forest service per sonnel have moved into tne building. J. K. Cook of Grants Pass was contractor on tne jod, The building has a floor area of 2,468 square feet plus an 18 by 30 foot basement. In other projects, a com plete new water system is be ing installed at Grayback Forest camp, according to El win Frye, acting district ran ger. The water will be chlor inated. Work also has begun on four new comfort stations at the camp. Contractor is Clyde Hamilton of Grant Pass. Included in the project are installation of n e w barrier Dosts and removal of danger ous trees. All work will be completed by May 1, when the campground win be open ed to the public. Plans also are under way to install a chlorinated water system at Store Gulch camp ground and two toilets on the south side of the river at Illinois River falls for the convenience of fishermen and hikers, Frye said. Dr. Smith is still on crutches recovering from injuries re ceived in a Nov. 14 auto acci dent. Theft Margaret Anne Stough, 824 Bennett ave, re ported to Medford city police early Sunday that a guitar had been stolen from her car while it was parked at 1907 North Pacific highway. Mrs. Slough said the guitar and its carrying case were valued at $575. The theft occurred sometime between 2:15 and 2:20 a.m. Sunday, acocrding to police reports. w Sentence Suspended Two Medford boys, aged 16 and 14, were arrested by city po lice early Sunday morning for violation of the city's curfew ordinance. The youths' were taken Into custody about 12:48 a.m. at a local bowling alley Municipal Judge Justin Smith Jr. suspended imposition of sentence on the pair this morning, but warned that if a further violation occurs, tne boys and their parents will be cited into court. House Fire Heavy heat and smoke damage was caused by fire yesterday afternoon at the Keith Johnson resi dence, 3151 Connell ave., Ccn tral Point rural firemen re ported. They said that fire was confined to the wall and floor in a bedroom. Bed cloth ing against a baseboard heat er waj apparent cause, ac cording to firemen who were summoned about s:zu p.m. House Damaged When Hit by Car Central Point - Glen Le roy Frost, 44, of 108 South Central ave., Medford, is at Sacred Heart hospital today recovering from injuries sus tained when his car crash d into a house at 132 Oak st. here early Sunday moi.il g. The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. Central Point Po lice Chief Ed Zander report ed that Frost said his foot slipped off the brake rcdal and onto the accelerator. Frost suffered facial lacer ations, possible chest injuries and bruises, but was reported in good condition today. The auto was demolished. Damage to the house, occu pied by Peggy Frost, was minor. PLAQUE AWARDED The Medford Navy recruiting office has received the Station of the Month plaque for outstanding recruit ing performance during the month of Feb ruary. The award is made each month to one of 23 stations located throughout Ore gon, Idaho and southern Washington. It is the second time the Medford office has won the plaque in the last two years. Court Is Thanked For Public Library The Jackson county court has received a litter from a Rogue River woman express ing appreciation for use of the Public Library of Mcd for and Jackson county. Through the public li brary, she said, her children have become confirmed read ers. She ram tne lamuy re lied on the library for various information including back ground material for a corres pondence course. The writer objected to the county budget committee "trimming the library budg et." However, Counly Judge Earl H. Miller said the com mittee raised the county s contributions to Ashland, Medford and Rogue River li brary budgets last year. Hurley Appointed To Office of U.S. Commissioner Yreka Yreka attorney Jcre E. Hurley has been ap pointed to the office of United States commissioner for the United Stales District Court's Northern District of Califor nia. Hurley took the oath of of fice before Superior Court Judge J. Everett Barr. The commissioncrship was created following a recent de cision by the district court to establish an office in Yreka. Court officials have called a conference in San Francisco to work out details in setting up the new office for next week.
