MARCH 3. 1963 C 3 7 ""'fiiN Li Women Golfers Schedule Brunch and Style Show Rogue Valley Country club women golfers will open the 1963 season with a brunch Thursday, March 7, at 9 a.m. All golfing and social mem bers are invited to attend. Mayor James Dunlevy, club manager, will address the group. Ron Caperna, golfing professional, will discuss rules and announce the dates for the women group golfing lessons. A style show displaying new golfing apparel from the club pro shop and Jean Hart's store will be on the program. Play for the day will be nine-hole medal and the wom en are asked to make their own pairings. Mr, and Mrs, Oito Carl Kahnert (Classic photo) Kahnert- Thompson Rites Phoenix Miss Lorna Gay Medford, and Raymond Thompson became the bride of Otto Carl Kahnert, 129 Kenwood avenue, Medford, in three o'clock afternoon rites Saturday, February 23. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. John E. Simon in St. Peter's Lu theran church, Modford. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Thompson, 410 Rose street, Phoenix, and the late Howard Thompson. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kahnert, New Wells, Mo. About 120 guests attended the ceremony and reception given by the bride's mother in the church rooms. Mrs. Keith Thompson, Cor vallis, was matron of honor, and Mrs. Raymond Thompson, was a bridesmatron. Both are sisters-in-law of the bride. Mrs. Ernest Hinkle, Medford, was another bridesmatron. Deborah Gee, Medford, was the flower girl. Candlelighters were the Misses Marvis and Janice Franks. Serving as best man was John Gee and seating the guests were Edwin Frohreich, Thompson, Brother Escorts Brld Keith Thompson gave his sister in, marriage. Her full length gown was of embossed taffeta with short train and rounded neckline. Her elbow length veil was held from a crown of pearls and she car ried a bouquet of white carna tions and rosebuds centered with a white orchid. The attendants' streetlength frocks were of matching em bossed taffeta in pink. They wore float veils and carried bouquets of white chrysanthe mums. The flower girl wore a pink dress with pink hat trimmed with a white velvet bow. The basket which she carried was filled with white chrysanthe mums. The candlelighters' ballerina length dresses were white and their wrist corsages pink. White chrysanthemums and white stock decorated the church. For her daughter's wed ding, Mrs. Thompson wore a Dink dress with lace iackct and light blue accessories. Her corsage was of orchids. At the reception, Mrs. Gladys Bonner and Mrs. Lar ry Konkel cut the wedding cake. Mrs. Lillian Hoekstru poured punch and Mrs. Frank Koch served the coffee. Mrs. Ted Franks had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Frank Hunter had made the bride's gown. The bride is a graduate of Phoenix schools and is a mem ber of the circulation depart ment staff for the Medford Mail Tribune. The bridegroom received his education at New Wells, Mo. He is a builder. For their wedding trip the couple traveled to the coast. The bride's suit was of blue and tan tweed which she wore with matching hat and black accessories. The couple Is living at the Kenwood street address. Others from out of town were Elmer Kahnert, Bremer ton, Wash., a cousin of the bridegroom; Mrs. Fagg; Mrs. John R. Townsley, grandmoth er of the bride, Mrs. Ethel Koenig, great aunt of the bride, Ray Townsley, her un cle, and Melvin Noakes, a cousin, all of Milwaukie, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Walker, Albany, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dunham, Eugene; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gricss, Eureka, Calif., former Med ford residents. Mothers Plan For Convention Mrs. Mary Note and Mrs. Mary Fredricks represented Medford Blue Star Mothers at a board meeting held last week in Roseburg. Plans for a department convention to be held May 16 in Grants Pass were made. A dinner honoring the national presi dent, Mrs. Eva Johnson, will be held in the evening, May 15. At a recent meeting of the local group, plans were made for a Blue Daisy sale to be conducted May 17 and 18. Proceeds are used for rehabil itation work at domicilaries and hospitals for veterans. Previous to the meeting the group toured the Dumas Dom estic laundry and later lunch ed at the Town House cafe. During the business session it was announced that an afghan had been completed, making a total of four for the veterans domicilary in White City. j Annual Election Election of 1963-64 officers will be held by Zulcirna tem ple. Daughters of the Nile, during its stated meeting next Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m., , in the Medford Masonic tem ple. Mrs. Chester Stonccyphcr, Tulclakc, Calif., will conduct her last meeting as queen. Following the business ses sion, a tea honoring the queen-' elect wil be held at the tem ple. Mrs. Murray S. Gardiner, Medford, holds the office of princess royal. Mrs. Vernon Turpin, tea chairman, will be assisted by Mrs. Chester Hubbard, Mrs. Ray Frisbie, Mrs. Ira Canfield ! and Mrs. E. "Team Teaching" was his topic. March Rites Set For Couple The approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Shar on Lynn Koch to Merlyn G. Ellcrmeier is announced by Miss Koch's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Koch, 814 West Fourteenth street, Medford. Mr. Ellermeier's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ellcr meier, Glenvil, Neb. The rites are planned for March 15 at All Faith's chapel, Ingleside, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Koch plan to travel to Nebraska for the event. Miss Koch was graduated from Medford High school and attended Walla Walla college, College Place, Wash., and Union College, Lincoln, Neb. She majored in social work, with a minor in psy chology, and is a caseworker at the Hastings State hospital in Nebraska. Mr. Ellermeier was gradu ated from Glenvil High school and attended Warburg and Waverly colleges, majoring in pre-medicine and mathemat ics. He is assistant manager of the Jack and Jill store in Glenvil. Student Given Lead in Play Ernest Bolz, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Bolz, 4005 Colver road, had a lead role in the play, "Twelve Angry Men," presented February 28 through March 2 at La Verne college where he is a fresh man student. The play, given by the col lege drama department mem bers, was adapted for stage after being a prize-winning television production. Young Bolz is a Phoenix High school graduate and is a past slate secretary of Future Farmers of America. Beatrice Rasmussen Parents Tell Of Engagement Jacksonville - Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L. Rasmussen, 400 North Fifth street, Jackson ville, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Miss Beatrice Marie to Pobcrt Dean Crouchcr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Crouchcr, Griffin Creek road, Medford. The bride-elect is a senior student at Medford High school. Her fiance is a 1960 graduate of the same school and has attended college for two years. He is employed by Timber Products company. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 19 in the home of Mrs. Golda Scmon. Miss Bernadine Paulson Betrothal Told In Roseburg Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Paulson of Roseburg have announced the engagement of their daughter, Bernadine Louise, to Jerry Marlyn Yost, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Yost, 1603 Jasmine avenue, Med ford. The bride-elect was gradu ated from Walla Walla col lege with a bachelor degree in secretarial science and is presently at home in Rose burg. Her fiance is attending Pacific Union college at Ang- win, Calif. The wedding date has been set for June 9 in the Roseburg Seventh - day A d v e n t i s t church. Marriage Announced Central Point Mr. and Mrs. Elmer van Middles worth, 857 Gibbon road, Cen tral Point, announce the mar riage of their daughter, Miss Lea Taberna, to Loren Gob hard in Reno, Neva. The cere mony was read February 13 in the Little White chapel. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Lucille Gebhard and the late Harold Gebhard. The bride and bridegroom were graduated from Crater High school and both attend ed Southern Oregon college for a year. The bridegroom now is employed by the Ad- News Received Of Engagement The engagement of Miss Naida Jean Smith, Portland, to Robert F. Rohrbach, Bend, has been announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne D. Smith, Klam ath Falls, former Medford residents. Miss Smith is a Medford High school graduate and is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Barnes, 5790 Table Rock road, Medford. She has been employed in Portland, and earlier attended Linfield college. Hor fiance Is a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Rohrback, also Bend. He is employed in Redmond. The bridegroom-elect was graduated from Baker High school and has attended Cen tral Oregon college and the University of Oregon where he was affiliated with Theta Chi fraternity. The wedding is planned for late April in Portland. Valley Couple Married In Methodist Church ..4 is Naida Jean Smith Jacksonville - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vernon Slockhoff, whose marriage was a recent event, are living at 804 South Peach street, Medford. The bride is the former Nancy Lee Sanford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer L. Adams, Jacksonville. The bridegroom's pareius are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Stockhoff, 721 Bennett street, Medford. The bride attended Jack sonville schools and is em ployed as a note teller in the United States National bank. The bridegroom attended Medford schools and is em ployed at White's Shell station. The two o'clock afternoon ceremony was performed February 17 in the Medford First Methodist church. Dr. George G. Roseberry per formed the rites attended by about 15 guests. Mrs. Francis Roberts was matron of honor and David B. Shaffer, Medford, was the best man. Ushers were Donald Stock- It off, Vacaville, Calif., a brother of the bridegroom, and Vance Adams, a brother of the bride. Wean Green The bride chose an emerald green sheath dress with white accessories and she carried a bouquet of white carnations and stcphanotis. Mrs. Vance Adams poured the coffee. Presiding at the punch bowl was Mrs. Robert France while the Misses Judy and Jody Simmons registered the guests. Others from out of town were Mrs. Fred Schaer, grandmother of the bride groom from Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Maxwell, friends of the bride from Oak land, Calif. 1 Browns Visit Family Here Lt. and Mrs. Darrcl R. Brown and their three chil dren, Sandra, Sherry and Richard, are in Medford as guests of the officer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin L. Brown, 1618 East Jackson street. They planned to leave today. The Browns have been In London for the past three and one-half years while Lt. Brown was on duty there with the United States Air Force. His next assignment is at Ells worth Air Force base in Rapid City, S. D., where he will be a launch control officer for the Minuteman missile. Another guest in the Brown home has been Mrs. D. M. Parks, Modesto, Calif., mother of Mrs. Orrin Brown. Friday evening the officer's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L.
