Women Golfers Schedule
Brunch and Style Show
Rogue Valley Country club
women golfers will open the
1963 season with a brunch
Thursday, March 7, at 9 a.m.
All golfing and social mem
bers are invited to attend.
Mayor James Dunlevy, club
manager, will address the
group. Ron Caperna, golfing
professional, will discuss rules
and announce the dates for
the women group golfing
lessons.
A style show displaying
new golfing apparel from the
club pro shop and Jean Hart's
store will be on the program.
Play for the day will be
nine-hole medal and the wom
en are asked to make their
own pairings.

Phoenix Miss Lorna Gay Medford, and Raymond
Thompson became the bride
of Otto Carl Kahnert, 129
Kenwood avenue, Medford, in
three o'clock afternoon rites
Saturday, February 23. The
double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rev. John
E. Simon in St. Peter's Lu
theran church, Modford.
The bride is a daughter of
Mrs. Dorothy Thompson, 410
Rose street, Phoenix, and the
late Howard Thompson. The
bridegroom's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Kahnert, New
Wells, Mo.
About 120 guests attended
the ceremony and reception
given by the bride's mother
in the church rooms.
Mrs. Keith Thompson, Cor
vallis, was matron of honor,
and Mrs. Raymond Thompson,
was a bridesmatron. Both are
sisters-in-law of the bride.
Mrs. Ernest Hinkle, Medford,
was another bridesmatron.
Deborah Gee, Medford, was
the flower girl. Candlelighters
were the Misses Marvis and
Janice Franks.
Serving as best man was
John Gee and seating the
guests were Edwin Frohreich,

Keith Thompson gave his
sister in, marriage. Her full
length gown was of embossed
taffeta with short train and
rounded neckline. Her elbow
length veil was held from a
crown of pearls and she car
ried a bouquet of white carna
tions and rosebuds centered
with a white orchid.
The attendants' streetlength
frocks were of matching em
bossed taffeta in pink. They
wore float veils and carried
bouquets of white chrysanthe
mums. The flower girl wore a pink
dress with pink hat trimmed
with a white velvet bow. The
basket which she carried was
filled with white chrysanthe
mums. The candlelighters'
ballerina length dresses were
white and their wrist corsages
pink.
White chrysanthemums and
white stock decorated the
church.
Friend Sings

Calif., lifelong friend of the
bridegroom, sang the wedding

For her daughter's wed
ding, Mrs. Thompson wore a
Dink dress with lace iackct
and light blue accessories. Her
corsage was of orchids.
At the reception, Mrs.
Gladys Bonner and Mrs. Lar
ry Konkel cut the wedding
cake. Mrs. Lillian Hoekstru
poured punch and Mrs. Frank
Koch served the coffee. Mrs.
Ted Franks had charge of
the guest book. Mrs. Frank
Hunter had made the bride's
gown.
The bride is a graduate of
Phoenix schools and is a mem
ber of the circulation depart
ment staff for the Medford
Mail Tribune. The bridegroom
received his education at New
Wells, Mo. He is a builder.
For their wedding trip the
couple traveled to the coast.
The bride's suit was of blue
and tan tweed which she wore
with matching hat and black
accessories.
The couple Is living at the
Kenwood street address.
Others from out of town

Mothers Plan
For Convention
Mrs. Mary Note and Mrs.
Mary Fredricks represented
Medford Blue Star Mothers
at a board meeting held last
week in Roseburg. Plans for
a department convention to
be held May 16 in Grants
Pass were made. A dinner
honoring the national presi
dent, Mrs. Eva Johnson, will
be held in the evening, May
15.
At a recent meeting of the
local group, plans were made
for a Blue Daisy sale to be
conducted May 17 and 18.
Proceeds are used for rehabil
itation work at domicilaries
and hospitals for veterans.
Previous to the meeting the
group toured the Dumas Dom
estic laundry and later lunch
ed at the Town House cafe.
During the business session
it was announced that an
afghan had been completed,
making a total of four for the
veterans domicilary in White
City. j

Election of 1963-64 officers
will be held by Zulcirna tem
ple. Daughters of the Nile,
during its stated meeting next
Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m., ,
in the Medford Masonic tem
ple. Mrs. Chester Stonccyphcr,
Tulclakc, Calif., will conduct
her last meeting as queen.
Following the business ses
sion, a tea honoring the queen-'
elect wil be held at the tem
ple. Mrs. Murray S. Gardiner,
Medford, holds the office of
princess royal.

March Rites
Set For Couple
The approaching marriage
of their daughter, Miss Shar
on Lynn Koch to Merlyn G.
Ellcrmeier is announced by
Miss Koch's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Koch, 814 West
Fourteenth street, Medford.
Mr. Ellermeier's parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ellcr
meier, Glenvil, Neb.
The rites are planned for
March 15 at All Faith's
chapel, Ingleside, Neb. Mr.
and Mrs. Koch plan to travel
to Nebraska for the event.
Miss Koch was graduated
from Medford High school
and attended Walla Walla
college, College Place, Wash.,
and Union College, Lincoln,
Neb. She majored in social
work, with a minor in psy
chology, and is a caseworker
at the Hastings State hospital
in Nebraska.
Mr. Ellermeier was gradu
ated from Glenvil High school
and attended Warburg and
Waverly colleges, majoring in
pre-medicine and mathemat
ics. He is assistant manager
of the Jack and Jill store in
Glenvil.
Student Given
Lead in Play
Ernest Bolz, son of Mr. and
Mrs. E. J. Bolz, 4005 Colver
road, had a lead role in the
play, "Twelve Angry Men,"
presented February 28
through March 2 at La Verne
college where he is a fresh
man student.
The play, given by the col
lege drama department mem
bers, was adapted for stage
after being a prize-winning
television production.
Young Bolz is a Phoenix
High school graduate and is a
past slate secretary of Future
Farmers of America.

Browns Visit
Family Here
Lt. and Mrs. Darrcl R.
Brown and their three chil
dren, Sandra, Sherry and
Richard, are in Medford as
guests of the officer's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Orrin L. Brown,

They planned to leave today.
The Browns have been In
London for the past three and
one-half years while Lt.
Brown was on duty there with
the United States Air Force.
His next assignment is at Ells
worth Air Force base in Rapid
City, S. D., where he will be
a launch control officer for
the Minuteman missile.
