Jacksonville The church night fellowship will hold its monthly meeting in the church Saturday, Feb. 23. The evening will begin with a pot- luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. A children's night is planned. RLDS Church To Hear Branch Pastor Elder Glen Turnbull, pastor of the Coquille branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church, will occupy the pul pit Sunday at the Medford RLDS church. Tenth and Ivy sis., as the pastor for the local congregation. Elder Harley Davidson, will be the visiting speaker at the Klamath Falls church. Plans were arranged at the last Priesthood meeting for an all day work day at the church on Saturday, March 2. The Zion League s activities scheduled for Sunday after noon have been postponed. Plans Noted for Witness Assembly Central Point George Smyth, presiding minister of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses at Central Point, and Eldon Holmes, assistant minister, are among the offi cials planning the assembly of Jehovah s witnesses to be held in Ashland March 8 to 10. Smyth will serve as public relations director and Holmes as purchasing agent. In addition to being In charge of the assembly pub lic relations activity, Smyth will address the gathering Fri day evening. His subject, "Be ing a Right Kind of Minister, will complement the theme "Right Kind of Ministers," which will be stressed during the three days. The event will be in Ashland Junior High school auditorium. Trinity Baptist Events Announced The Joy of the Lord" is the title of the message to be given by Pastor Bruce O. These green beans are Oregon and Washington grown. 1 1-pound can cut Blue Lake green beans 1 3 23-ounce can smoked oysters 4 green onions, chopped 3 tablespoons salad oil 2 tablespoons wine vinegar ' teaspoon dried dill Ki teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons sugar Drain green beans and turn into a bowl; add undrained smoked oysters and onions Combine all remaining ingred ients and pour over green beans. Knights of Altar Elect New Officers Glen Meeker was elected supreme grand knight of the Sacred Heart unit of the Knights of the Altar at the re cent first meeting of the new ly invested members of the parish group. Other officers include Larry Hochstatter, vice su preme grand knight; Charles Darland, secretary; and Doug las Nelson, treasurer. All of the boys are eighth grade students at St. Mary's Grade school. During the next three months the 23 members of the local K of A unit will be responsible for teaching and qualifying seventh and sixth grade boys for admittance in to the organization. Member ship is earned by passing ex aminations in religion, serv ing of mass and other litur gical services, and in general citizenship. Kraut Specialties Popular With Men The men of the family seem to have a special liking for zestful sauerkraut which comes handily in both No. 2 cans and the bigger 2'i size cans dependent on number of men to be fed. Kraut-Stuffed Chops In a saucepan, combine one one-pound 11 ounce (No. 2V4) can sauerkraut, one cup chop ped onion, one medium size pple, cored and chopped, and two tablespoons firmly pack ed brown sugar. Cook over medium heat until onions are tender and liquid has evapor ated. Remove from heat and add one medium size potato, pared and grated. Meanwhile, sprinkle six medium-thick pork chops with salt and pep per. To stuff, place pork chops on counter, top with kraut mixture, another pork chop; repeat layers until all ingred ients are used. Tie securely with heavy string and place in roasting pan, fat side up. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees, two hours and 15 minutes or until pork is done. Kraut-Apple Bake Combine one one-pound can sauerkraut, one-fourth cup melted shortening, one-fourth cup water, three apples, quar tered, one small onion, sliced. one tablespoon sugar, one-half teaspoon salt, one-half tea spoon caraway seeds. Bake in covered 1V4 quart casserole in moderate oven, 350 degrees, lrj hours. Makes six serv ings; perfect with any pork C11SI1. Pickled Onion Rings Peel and cut four medium onions into one-fourth Inch slices. Cover with water to which two tablespoons of salt are added. Let stand several hours. Simmer for about three minutes in the same salted water; drain; separate onion slices into rings. Blend 1V4 cups red wine vinegar, one-half cup water two cups sugar and two tea spoons pickling spices; bring to Dolling point. Pour hot vinegar mixture over onion rings. Let stand until cool Serve as relish with beef or pork.
