MEDF0Md3aWRIBUNB SPCDIffiTS Henley Expected To Sew Up Title Henley high's Hornets aim to sew up the unshared Rogue league basketball champion ship this week. Lakeview, Eagle Point, Illinois Valley and St. Mary's seek triumphs in the campaign for one of two berths from the circuit in the four-team District 6 A-2 playoff. The Hornets (11-0) are fig ured a shoo-in for the lone ' possession of the conference banner. For, they are hosts to Sacred Heart, the winless cel larile, on Friday. Rest of Friday's slate is Phoenix at Eagle Point, Illi- . nois Valley at Rogue River and Lakeview at St. Mary's. ' On the Saturday docket are Lakeview at Henley, St. Mary's at Rogue River and Phoenix at Sacred Heart. Outside Hope St. Mary's (4-6) harbors only an outside hope to tie for second place. One more loss by the Crusaders or one more victory for either Eagle Point (8-3) or Lakeview (also 8-3) will put the Medford paro chial team out of the running. Including this week's fare, the Crusaders have four more league games. Going into this week end of contention Eagle Point and Lakeview are still in the run ning for league co-championship. Each may run into rug ged opposition on Friday night. Phoenix (2-9 and out of the race) particularly may be fired for the Eagles after C,l-m.K LLACiLL Landis Studio 110-5) 3. Considerable interest is focused on the Lakeview-Henley fray on Saturday. Plenty To Play For Since Eagle Point is up among the top 10 in the A-2 ratings, Coach Eldon Durham figures his Phoenix Pirates still have plenty to play for. He indicated that the Bucs did not plan to make many changes this week, except to adapt their offense and de fense for the Eagles and for the SH Trojans. Biggest job against the Eagles, Durham pointed out, will be to try to stop Charles Pomeroy, Rich ard Short and Bill Hoefft. "I'd like to win all four of them," said St. Mary's Coach Dick Paup, doubtlessly re flecting the sentiment of the Crusader squad concerning its remaining games. Except for working on their free shooting, the Cru saders have not been work ing on any special aspect of the game. Aim has been this week to polish everything. Paup reported that Dave Young suffered a twisted knee and Steve Cook a bad ankle sprain in Tuesday drill. Both are out of action this week and Young is out for the rest of the slate, the carti lage is torn. Pete Naumes is expected to assume Young's starting spot. ai. till Hit.
