War Plane To Washington - XTP- The De fense Department has begun studies of a new strategic war plane that could stay aloft for several days with out refueling and carry a hoard of conventional and nu-1 clear weapons, it has been j learned. The prospective monster j has been nicknamed "'Drome dary" because, like a desert camel, it could go for long periods without running dry. ! Present Air Force Ihinkine ! is that it might fly three to eight days without taking on new fuel. At the same time it would be able to "hide in the sky" much the way that a Polaris missile submarine hides deep in the sea. It would carry two crews. The Air Force is exploring the Dromedary concept as a successor to the B52 jet bomber and as a complement to the submarine and land based missile in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
