Reading Association Schedules Meeting The International Reading association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Southern Oregon college, Ash land: Wayne Ulvert, representing Science Research Associates, Inc., will display and discuss various reading materials. Oliver Erickson, president of the Rogue Valley chapter, reminded members that the second state wide IRA meet ing will be held in Eugene April 20. Dr. Ruth Strang from the University o Ari zona will speak. HEADS DELEGATION Washington -WD- The head of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, Wil liam C. Foster, will bo in charge of the U.S. delegation at the opening sessions of Geneva disarmament talks scheduled to resume next Tuesday. Foster will take the place of former U.S. chief delegate, Arthur Dean who retired last month, the State Department said Wednesday. Thornton Explains Subdividing Law SalemiUPH-Atly. Gen. Rob ert Thornton has told the Douglas county district at torney that selling three or more parcels of land less than five acres in size is subdivid ing land under Oregon law. Thornton said the statute applies whether division of the parcels was done at one time or at different times. (UPI) Ashland Man Plans To Attend Meeting Ashland-Don Cowan, secre tary of the Ashland YMCA, will be In Fresno, Calif., this week end to attend the 26th national convention of YMCA Indian Guides. The three-day session will include workshops on family life led by Dr. Gerald White, head of the social science di vision of San Francisco Slate college. The Ashland Y now has three Indian - Guide groups made up of boys between 6 and 9 years old and their fathers. The movement af fords a closer relationship be tween fathers and sons and has been proved one of the most popular and successful of all YMCA activities. Belutli said he understood that state law al lowed any person to wreck three personal cars a year if he wishes - and they arc not prohibited from strewing them on public domain. SEXY TWIST Beverly, Mass. - (UPll - The Beverly Licensing Commis sion, which last full banned belly dancers at night clubs, Wednesday outlawed all floor shows except for dance or chestras and dancing. Committee Tours Eastern Oregon Salem - (UPI) - Most of the members of the Ways and Means Committee left here today for a two-day tour of Eastern Oregon. The powerful budget com mittee planned to visit several spots, including the State Hos pital at Pendleton, Pendleton Community College, Mid-Columbia Home at The Dalles, Eastern Oregon College, and the proposed Boardman In dustrial Park area. Committee members plan ned to stay Friday and Satur day nights at Pendleton. Rep. Jack Smith (D-Condon) ac companied the group to his district. Twelve members attended. New memcbrs are Linda and Ma rie Chastain. Laura Mae Noble, Linda Armitage and Sue Harper gave a cooking demonstration on "measuring utensils and how to use them." Elaine Meyer, Cheryl Stanley, and Becky Walch gave a demon stration on "sewing equip ment and what it is used for." Mrs. Wilma Armitage and Mrs. Velma Noble told us what our project require ments will be. Mary Ann Gardner read a letter from the grandparents of Mary Jane Imperatrice thanking our club for its thoughtfulness in their time of sorrow. The team, composed of 42 girls between 14 and 17 years old, took first honors in drill team exhibition at the Seattle World's I'air. They are cn route to San Francisco to take part in the New Year's parade Saturday and to honor the new Miss Chinatown. The group will spend Thurs day night in Grants Pass un der the auspices of the Grants Pass Kiwanis club, with local rcstauraitlcur Kee Ng as host.
