Ashland Man Plans
To Attend Meeting
Ashland-Don Cowan, secre
tary of the Ashland YMCA,
will be In Fresno, Calif., this
week end to attend the 26th
national convention of YMCA
Indian Guides.
The three-day session will
include workshops on family
life led by Dr. Gerald White,
head of the social science di
vision of San Francisco Slate
college.
The Ashland Y now has
three Indian - Guide groups
made up of boys between 6
and 9 years old and their
fathers. The movement af
fords a closer relationship be
tween fathers and sons and
has been proved one of the
most popular and successful
of all YMCA activities.

has introduced a bill in the
state legislature to have
abandoned autos classified as
garbage. Belutli said he
understood that state law al
lowed any person to wreck
three personal cars a year if
he wishes - and they arc not
prohibited from strewing
them on public domain. Scat,
tering garbage is unlawful.

Beverly Licensing Commis
sion, which last full banned
belly dancers at night clubs,
Wednesday outlawed all floor
shows except for dance or
chestras and dancing. "If you
ban belly dancers, how can
you ignore a sexy girl doing
a twist?" a spokesman asked.
Committee Tours
Eastern Oregon

Means Committee left here
today for a two-day tour of
Eastern Oregon.

mittee planned to visit several
spots, including the State Hos
pital at Pendleton, Pendleton
Community College, Mid-Columbia
Home at The Dalles,
Eastern Oregon College, and
the proposed Boardman In
dustrial Park area.
Committee members plan
ned to stay Friday and Satur
day nights at Pendleton. Rep.
Jack Smith (D-Condon) ac
companied the group to his
district.

The second meeting of the
Lake Creek Eyes and Knives
4-H club was held at the home
of Mrs. Ed Armitage. Twelve
members attended. New
memcbrs are Linda and Ma
rie Chastain.
Laura Mae Noble, Linda
Armitage and Sue Harper
gave a cooking demonstration
on "measuring utensils and
how to use them." Elaine
Meyer, Cheryl Stanley, and
Becky Walch gave a demon
stration on "sewing equip
ment and what it is used for."
Mrs. Wilma Armitage and
Mrs. Velma Noble told us
what our project require
ments will be.
Mary Ann Gardner read a
letter from the grandparents
of Mary Jane Imperatrice
thanking our club for its
thoughtfulness in their time
of sorrow.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Elaine
and Gloria Meyer Feb. 9, at
