OREGON CARL THACKER To Make Official Viiit Eagles President To Visit Medford Carl Thacker, Yakima, Wash., grand worthy presi dent of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, will visit the local Eagles club Thursday, Feb. 7. He will be honored at a no host dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Medford hotel. The business meeting will follow at 8 p.m. at the Eagle hall, according to William Buchanan, worthy president of the aerie. Thacker's visit here is one of four in the state. Long active in Eagle affairs on both state and national levels, last year Thacker was appointed national chairman of the lodge's five year program to aid the National Audubon so ciety in its fight to prevent the extinction of bald and golden eagles. On the AIR By ELEANOR WIESE What should be one of the outstanding events of this television season is scheduled for Wednesday night. George Bernard Shaw's classic com edy "Pygmalion," starring Julie Harris and James Don ald, will be presented on the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" at 7:30 p. m. on KMED-TV. The TV premiere of ''Pyg malion" will come almost 50 years after its first stage per formance in Vienna in 1913. Such actresses an Lynn Fon tanne, Gertrude Lawrence and Wendy Hiller have since played the part of Eliza. Most recently Richard Rodgcrs and Oscar Hammerstein II based their record-breaking musical "My Fair Lady" on Shaw's play, with Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison in the leading roles. Shaw derived the title of "Pygmalion" from the Latin poet, Ovid, whose Pygmalion created a beautiful statue, Galatea, and then fell in love with it. Shaw's Pygmalion is Henry Higgins, an arrogant professor of phonetics who attempts, on a wager, to make a fine lady of an ignorant flower girl. The cast includes Julie Harris as Eliza Doolittle; James Donald as Henry Hig gins; Gladys Cooper as his mother Mrs. Higgins; John Williams as Col. Pickering; and George Rose as Eliza's father.
