Both said they did not be lieve the limit would speed the sessions, but both agreed the limit would keep the pub lic from believing the legisla ture was staying in session just to get the daily expense money. Barton said he believed the limit "improves the bill," and Musa commented he doubted if the higher pay would result In professionalism, "not at to day's prices." - Barton said he expected the pay bill to reach the House today or Thursday." The joint Senate-House committee Monday approved by a 10-4 split vote a $3,000 annual salary for legislators, and $20 a day expenses while the legislature was in ses sion. It added a 120 day limit to the expense period. MILK - 32 Professor Proves Set of Equations E u g e n e A univcrsiy of Oregon professor has proved a set of equations in physics which describes the move ment of electrons In crystals when placed in an electric or magnetic field. Dr. Gregory H. Wannier, professor of physics, report ed on his mathematical for mulas today before the meet ing of the American Physical Society in New York. He delivered the paper by Invitation. Although many papers are contributed to the Society's annual meeting, only a few scientists are in. vitcd each year to present their research findings. Dr. Wannier is the first member of the University's physics de partment to be so honored The scientist's findings. which resulted from pencil and-DaDer rather than labora tory work, provide a theoreti cal underpinning for ideas about electrons whicn nave been current for some time The equations, which were hypothesized by other scien tists some time ago. have been used extensively In practical and basic scientific work for the past decade, but have never before been proved. t IfTAUPU mmm ISTAMPSI PIGGLY VIGGLY STAMP i green IstampbI stamps! sTAMsJ ISTAMPjJ 19TAM PsJ IcnrfJ ISTAMPlJ Willison's Butter Beef or Veal Steaks v 4-Steak Pkg.
