Preview Given Spring Style United Press International For spring, 1963, look tor the full skirted "popovcr" dress for girls and subteens. It's a three-in-one dress with its own popover jumper good for early spring right through late summer. Look for a "new look" in old fabrics this spring. Seer sucker, denim and madras will take the honors. Seer sucker comes In wide stripes and bold plaids. Denim has "western" details such as con trast stitching and yokes. And madras has wider, more spaced patterns. Caribbean bound? Try a lively striped barber shop style sport shirt combined with slim pants, white neck band and cuffs. The rainwear trend? To a slightly short coat with more interest for belted backs. Vir tually all demand today, in cidentally, is for garments with zip-out pile linigs. The pinafore slip is just about the best thing that's hap pened to children's lingerie since the bouffant petticoat, Women's Wear Daily reports. This double-as-a-dress item, seen only at a very few firms several seasons ago, has had such enthusiasiic response that now almost all lingerie makers show several for spring. Whipped sour cream be comes fluffy, increases in vol ume, and can be piled on top of gingerbread, spice cake or pudding and garnished with shaved curls of chocolate, chopped pecans or almonds, or crushed peppermint stick candy. Women's News Here it is only Friday and the Christmas decorations around our house and the News Room at the Tribune are already beginning to look a little tired and frazzled. Just last Monday they looked so bright and gay, but now the holly leaves are a bit dry and dusty looking, the mistletoe is drooping and some of the bright baubles which hung among the evergreens have fallen and smashed. The cones, of course, are indestructible. The beautiful spray of cones and acorns hanging on the front door at home may gather some dust, but a whiff of air will blow that away. We will store the spray in a plastic bag, and when we take it out for Christmas, next year, the good earth tones of brown will be unchanged and as attractive as when the spray was first made. Something else has been giving us a lot of pleasure this Christmas. About two weeks ago we noted that the buds on the winter jasmine were beginning to swell, so we took the clippers and cut eight or a dozen small branches, put them in the pretty cut glass water jug which was a present from a good friend, and set it in a warm spot in the dining room. Sure enough after a few sight of one bright yellow dozens of them. They are a little small and maybe not quite as deep a yellow as if they had bloomed outdoors on the bush. But yellow they are, and fresh, and somehow, they are a more beautiful to our eyes than the Christmas tree ornaments. O S. They can help you keep the food budget balanced as well a open many avenues of creativity in the culinary field. As an e x a m p I e, Reba Staggs. well known home economist and meal expert, suggests that if you have 2 or 3 cups of cubed meat, beef, veal, pork or lnnib. a mixture of condensed onion soup, celery seed and prepared chili sauce can add an air of elegance to this otherwise commonplace second day serving. One important factor to keep in mind is to keep cook ed meat lightly covered in the coldest' pari of Ihe refrigera tor to prevent further drying. Zeity Meat Repeat Two to three cups cubed or six slices cooked meat; one can (1 1 ounces) condensed onion soup: one-half tea spoon celery seed: on-fourth cup prepared chili sauce. Mix onion soup, celer;- seed and chili sauce in frying-pan. Add meat. Cover tightly and cook slowly until thoroughly heated, bnM 10 minutes. Four to six serving cover the entire cake with your favorite white frosting. Outline the glass on top with yellow decorating icing in tubes.
