IfiJ CORNER JACKSONVILLE HI WAY AND LOZIER LANE A 9 Factor Apparently Heavy Donor to I Democratic Party; Washington - HTD - John (Jake the Barber) Factor, vic tim of a gangland kidnaping; in 1933, and his wife appar ently were bipartisan In their contributions to the 1060 pres idential campaigns. The couple gave a total nl Sin, 1)011 to the Citizens for Kennedy Organization, ac cording to records of cam paign expenditures. A spokesman for Factor, who was granted a Christmas pardon by President Kennedy on a 1943 mail fraud convic tion, indicated in Los Angelej that Factor also contributecUo the Republican party. Not on GOP List The Republican National Committee said Factor waa not on its list of major con- tributors, but a GOP spokes--man did not rule out the pos sibility that Factor might have" contributed $10 or $15 in th 1960 campaign. The newspaper Chicago; American said Wednesday" that reports filed with Con gress after the 19R0 election ' "disclosed that Factor had been one of the largest per- " sonal contributors to tho Ken- ' nedy campaign with $20,000.""-' A partial check of records kept by the clerk of the House ' of Representatives showed" - that John Factor, 1185 Loma" Linda dr., Beverly Hills,' Calif., and Rella Factor, 1184 . Loma Linda dr., Beverly Hills,' contributed $5,000 each to th Kennedy organization. Amount Not Recalled The spokesman for Factor said he "contributed to botli parties, but I do not recall how much." The spokesman said Factor had a cold and . was not taking telephone calls-- himself. The presidential pardon nullified deportation proceed- mgs against racior, Daseo on the 1943 conviction, started by the U.S. Immigration Serv ice last week. Factor said he was kidnaped 1 In Chicago by Roger (Tho Terrible) Touhy, who served 2fl years for the crime and was shot to death in 1959 22" days after his release from prison. The late Federal Judge John P. Barnes once ruled - uii r ai-iur naa xaKen me Km- naping, hut he was overruled by an anneals court. Ullman Considers Supporting Tax Cut Washington - HOT - Rep. Al Ullman (D-Ore.) said Wednes-. day he would support a tax cut if the present economic trend continues. But Ullman, a member of the House Ways and Means committee, said he would reach no final decision until further hearings are held by the committee. The Oregon Democrat said he thought that testimony presented this year before tho . committee had revealed "a preponderance of evidence" that a tax cut would spur eco nomic growth. A tax cut would seem to be justified on the basis of overwhelming evidence that the present lax structure iJ acting as a drag on the econ-" omy," he said. However, Ullman said, whether such a tax cut ulti mately should be made would depend on the state of the economy at the time a tax' revision program comes up for a vote. A speeding up of the econ omy and possible resumption of an inflationary trend might make a tax cut undesirable, he said. Mark of Death on Venezuelan Denied Washington - IBPD - The) Venezuelan Embassy Wednes day denied allegations by th wife of former dictator Mar cos Perez Jimenez that he would be executed if a U.S. court in Florida extradited him. : menl saying: "11 is absolutely, false and without foundation that Perez Jimenez and his relatives would be executed,. because in Venezuela there il no death sentence."
