MbUi-'OHU, Outrun County Court To Prepare lor New Business Year The Jackson county court yesterday started to clean up odds and ends of business be fore the new court takes over in January. Only new court member, however, will be Donald Fa ber, Central Point Republican who replaces County Commis sioner Chester Wendt, Med ford Republican who did not seek reelection'. Faber has been attending all of the coun ty court sessions in recent weeks and visiting various county facilities such as the juvenile detention home and county farm home. The court, minus Commis sioner Edwin Taylor who was attending a public lands meet ing in Las Vegas, New., voted to notify the bonding compa ny that the Emigrant lake concessionaire has not made a final settlement with the county. Closes Concession John Schmitt, Portland, closed his concession after La bor Day but still owes the county 10 per cent of his gross receipts for July, August and September, or at least a finan cial statement, Commissioner Wendt said. No new conces (ionaire has been found yet. The county court noted it has a number of appointments to make before the end of the montn. They include reap pointment of Kenneth Pick ens, Andrew Stephens and Walter Garner to the county salary adjustment or review board, Arnold Bohnert' to the county budget committee, Robert J. Carstensen as coun ty engineer, Elmer Donahoo as veterans service officer, William Manning as consta ble, William Cochran as pur chasing coordinator, Henry Owens, Homer Jeffries and W. H. Funeral ar rangements will be announced by Conger-Morris funeral directors. HEAVIEST PAYLOAD C133-B Cargomasters at Travis Air Force Base are making aviation history by delivering the heaviest aircraft payload, the Minuteman missle. The project will involve delivery of 800 missiles, a task that will take an estimated nine months. The aircraft was spe cially designed for missile delivery but in this particular case there is but 1 1 6th of an inch tolerance between the plane and the load in its erector-trailer. Road Crews Work On Coiinly Projects Jackson county road crews are grading and graveling l'i miles of the East Side rd. in the Applegate area, Robert Carstensen, county engineer (aid today. Other projects under way Include the widening of Laurclhurst rd. near McLeod. Carstensen said this project Includes working in heavy rock. He noted that all bridges on county roads are open, but crews are still repairing some of the storm damage through out the county. MARIE McVEY Funeral services for Mrs. Marie McVcy, 76, of 1129 West Fourth St., Medford, who died Wednesday, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Conger-Morris downtown chapel. The Rev. John E. Mrs. McVey was born Sept. 29, 1886, in Revillo, S.D., and had lived in southern Oregon for 25 years. Her husband, Orbie L. McVey, died in 1951. Survivors include a daugh ter, Mrs. Phyllis Graham, Burbank, Calif.; two brothers, William Breitung, Denver, Colo., and Alex Breitung, Clear Lake. S.D.; five sisters, Mrs. E. A. Raymond, Crooks ton. Minn.; Mrs. L. Miller, McMinnville, Ore: Mrs. L. Lyons, Medford; Mrs. Elmer Hokansen, Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. C. E. Waldack, Hopkins, Minn.; one grandson and sev eral nieces and nephews. ROBERT PINKARD Ashland Robert Pinkard, 75, of 172 Alida St., Ashland, died in a local nursing home last night. Funeral arrange ments will be announced by Litwiller Funeral home, BERTHA CROFT Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Croft, 86, of 1974 Marsh Lane, who died Tues day, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Conger-Morris downtown chapel. The Rev. George Roseberry of the First Methodist church will officiate. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mrs. Croft was born Aug 4. 1876, in Jackson county, Missouri. She was married April 2, 1897, in Montague, Calif., to James D. Hcdgpeth, who died in 1936. She was then married Nov. 20, 1339, in Ashland, to Earl Croft, who survives. She was a member of the Griffin Creek Grange, and of the First Methodist church. Survivors, besides her hus band, include two sons, Lee Hcdgpeth, Medford; and Clar ence Hcdgpeth, Prospect, Ore.; a step-son, Willard Croft, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; four step - daughters, Mrs. V a d a Emery, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Sylvia Miller, Fontana, Calif.; Mrs. Nina Walsh, Portland; and Mrs. Madge Crydennan, Oakland, Calif.; 11 grandchil dren and 12 great grandchil dren. Casket bearers will include John Novae, Wilbur Martin, Chris Christenscn, Jack Covey, John Lane, and George Mero. HARRY R. TYPLEES Ashland-Harry R. Typlces, 73, of 113 North st., Talent, was found dead at his home yesterday. Jackson county sheriff's deputies said Mr. Typlces died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Medford Man Fined For Possessing Mash Fred S. Jones, 4345 South Pacific highway, Medford, was fined $150 and sentenced to 60 days in Jackson county jail after pleading guilty in dis trict court yesterday to charg es of illegal possession of mash. Jones was arrested Dec. 5 at his home where sheriff's deputies found several items which formed a liquor still. Parts of the still were con cealed in the house and the premises, deputies said. They found a barrel of mash in a closet, they said.
