MEDFORD, OREGON Eugene Intends To Buy Hanford Power Eugene 1UPB Eugene Wa ter and Electric Board has served notice it intends to purchase two per cent of the electrical output of the new reactor at the Hanford, Wash., atomic works. Board members voted Mon day night to write a "letter of Intent" to that effect. A spokesman said the board pre ferred the letter over a firm commitment because it want ed clarification of some pro visions of the draft contract. The Hanford generator, using waste steam from the new reactor, is expected to begin operation in 1965. If the measures recommended by Kramer fail, I have a couple of suggestions for use in emergencies. (I) Schedule I two parties, one for male em- j ployees and the other for j females. (2) Put up a sign reading "soft drinks only." j Kennedy Refuses To Air Hassle Over Stevenson Washington - fllPlt - 'Presi dent Kennedy refused Wednesday to engage in a public discussion of the posi tions Ambassador Adlai E. Stevenson and National Se curity Council members took before the decision to block ade Cuba. He was asked at his news conference whether Steven-' son ever had taken a position ; contrary lo the final decision made by the President in lale October, as suggested in a Saturday Evening Post dis patch by two journalistic friends of Kennedy". He said the President "must make the decision" - that it is his responsibility and not that of the National Security Council.
