East Coast mat terror, will take on Wild Bill Savage in one of the preliminaries to Thursday night's over-the-top battle royal wrestling pro gram at Medford Armory. There will be two other matches, with the first one starting at 8:15 p.m. Linebackers Bill Dinner For Team "Strictly just for fun." That's the way it will be Thursday night, Dec. 13, when the Medford Linebackers club holds a banquet for Medford high's state championship football team. The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. at North's Chuck Wagon. It will be an all-male event. Concerning the program, Lineb acker President Bud Parsons said only that "plans are being completed." Wet Track Slows Down Karrways Races A wet and hazardous track slowed down the drivers at the Medford kartways last Sunday, but it didn't dampen the spirits of the winners as Rick Barnes came in to win the fast track time in the senior class division in 18.4 seconds. First place trophy was won by Dick Florey with 2700 points, second place trophy going to Jerry Condray. In the junior division, Doug Johanson and Pete Updike tied for fast track time in 20 seconds. First place trophy in the junior division was won by Bill Savard with 2740 points. Second place trophy winner was Pete Updike. No races will be held dur ing the Christmas holidays. Racing will be resumed in early January. Hochstatter Aiding Tourney Promotion Playing a role in the pro motion of the seasons first major northwest hoop tour ney, the annual KCI Invita tional, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is John Hochstatter of the local KC council. The charity event will be presented December 14 and 15 at the Portland Memorial Coliseum and will match an imposing list of collegiate hoop clubs. These include (he sensation al Tennessee Stale A and I from Nashville, annually a power in major hoop play offs: Loyola of Los Angeles, College of the Pacific, Stock ton, Cal., and University of Portland Pilots. Hochstatter also is in charge of tickets and promo tion for the local KC council. All proceeds go to KC char ities in Oregon. Cincinnati, with a 4-0 rec ord, drew 34 first-place votes from the 35 coaches who make up the UPI board. The Bearcats scored three vic tories last week. They defeat ed Virginia, 91-42; Miami of Ohio, 58-36; and George Wash ingto i, 86-59. Duke unbeaten in three games, received the other first-place vote. Cincinnati was picked second by the lone dissenting coach to attain a near-unanimous total of 349 points out of a possible 350. Loyola, with a 2-0 mark, held onto third place with 185 points but Ohio State wasn't far behind with 177 points. The Buckeyes, considered in a re-building stage because of the loss of All-Americas Jerry - MEDFORD.TRIBimi SIPflDMTS Glendale High Grapplers Defeat Crater Comets Central Point - Glendale defeated an inexperienced Crater High wrestling team 30 to 23 here last night. Glendale took eight of the 13 individual bouts, three by pins. Crater grapplers scored four pins among their five victories. Fine work in the varsity bouts was turned in by Dennis Cornutt, Bob Butcher and Steve Jorde of the Comets. Joe McCalvy, who lost to Glendale's Larry Troxel, wrestled his first bout after being laid up by injury. In the exhibitions, Crater had a 22 to 14 margin. Strong Henley trimmed Crater 38 to 21 in a Saturday match. Minnesota's Bell Lineman of Year New York-IOT-Bobby Bell of Minnesota, a converted high school quarterback from Shelby, N.C., has been hail ed as college football's "Line man of the Year" for 1962. The 6-4, 214-pound tackle, drafted by the Minnesota Vik ings of the National Football league, the Dallas Texans of the American Football league and the Winnipeg Blue Bomb ers of the Canadian Football league, was picked as the na tion's top lineman by a 2-1 majority over Lee Roy Jor dan of Alabama, a center, in balloting conducted by Unit ed Press International. Pat Richter of Wisconsin was third and end Hal Bed sole of national champion Southern Californa and end Dave Robinson of Pcnn State tied for fourth.
