Dinner Party Held by Groups A Thanksgiving dinner par ty held at the Pythian build ing Saturday evening was sponsored by the auxiliary to the local branch of the Na tional Association of Letter Carrier. Almost 50 persons attended. The party was for all local letter carriers and their wives and guests. The tables were decorated by Mrs. Dennis Pfaff and a committee. The turkeys were furnished' by the auxiliary, the rest of the dinner was donated by members, and all arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Hary Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Mary Fredericks and committee. The remainder of the eve ning was spent dancing to mu sic furnished by Hamilton Ecker, member of the local branch. Navy Son Visits Gold Hill Parents Gold Hill Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Andrews, Upper ri ver road have as their guest for the Thanksgiving holidays their son, John Andrews, a petty officer on duty with the U. S. S. Vega. He has com pleted a two-year lour of duty with the Navy at Sascbo, Japan. - Butte Falls PTA To Meet Monday Butte Falls Students of the second and third grades under the direction of their teachers, Mrs. Roger Harris and Mrs. Claude Curtis, will furnish the program for the Butte Falls Parent Teacher as sociation meeting Monday, November 28. The session will open at 7:30 p.m., in the high school cafeteria. The M o t h e r singers will make their first appearance during the next meeting of the association Monday, Decem ber 10. Open house at the Butte Falls Elementary school was conducted recently In con junction with American Edu cation week. ' Parents and friends attend ed and visited classrooms where work was on display and teachers spoke to parents regarding individual work or group projects. Rooms were decorated in holiday themes. Girls of the upper grades served refreshments. Church Women Hold Dollar Day Party Illinois Valley-The annnual Dollar day party for members of the Ladies Missionary so ciety of the Cave Junction Community church was held recently. Purpose of the event is to collect one dollar from each member for missionary work. With each donation the donor includes a poem which relates how the money was earned. Those who fail to in clude a poem are fined as an extra donation. Money collect ed at the party is sent to missionaries. Evening Circle Meeting Slated The book, "Pace of a Hen," will be the subject of a panel and group discussion during the meeting of the newly formed evening circle'of the Women's fellowship, Medford Congregational church, Tues day, November 27 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Welty house, 2940 Hill crest road. The group is being formed especially for women who cannot easily attend the regu lar afternbon monthly meet ings of the Women's fellow ship. All interested women are invited. The book (o be discussed concerns the needs of the housewife and mother who is confronted with more de mands for her time and energy than she can meet. . Home Economists,' To Hear Speaker Rogue Valley Home Econo mists in Homemaking will meet Monday, November 26, at the Girl Scout building, 431 West Ninth street at 7:30 p.m. Florence Medford, guest speaker, will discuss the home economist's role in Girl scout ing. An auction will be held and all members are requested to bring a white elephant. Fam ily customs and Christmas ideas will also be exchanged. The Ekersons, accompanied by Mrs. Tom Brandenburg and the Paul Larson family, took the boat, the Glacier Queen from Vancouver, Brit ish Columbia, through the in side passage to Skagway, Alaska, traveling from there via the narrow gauge railroad to Lake Bennett, British Co lumbia, and return. Newcomers are welcome to these regular Monday travel shows which are different each week. There are several changes in the program this week. The Tuesday mosaic class, which drew many new mem bers last week, will continue to meet each Tuesday from 10 to 12 noon as a workshop. Mrs. William Tycer, the teach er, has already completed the five lessons in the course. Many members of the class are already well informed on the techniques of several types of mosaic craft and will help each other and keep the class going, it was stated. Cooper Tooling The Copper Tooling class will now meet from 1 to 3 p.m. each Wednesday instead of the former hour of 2 to 4 p.m. Robert Africa, the teach er, is now available at the earlier hour. He is making frames for the copper pictures already made by the class members which may be picked up November 28. The shufflcboard teams who, have spent three days sending out Christmas seals for the Tuberculosis and Health as sociation, will resume their game hours Wednesday from 10 to 12 noon. The square dance group will continue to meet Thurs day morning and the orches tra, which practiced on Satur day last week, will meet as before on Thursday afternoon, Knitting. Class Due to the illness nf one of their members, Mrs. Pearl Spackman who is in the Sa cred Heart hospital with a back injury, the orchestra is looking for some senior to play the snare drums. Any senior who is interested may contact John Cribble, 772 5932. The new knitting class meets Monday afternoons with Mrs. Ed Barnett. Seniors who wish to crochet, tat, do any kind of needle work will be welcome to join the group. The Tuesday oil painting class, which is taught by Mrs. Wanda Williams, had two members showing paintings in the last two weeks' art exhibit at Math's store. They are Mrs. W. H. Walwyn and F. E. Fri den. New members who wish to learn to paint are welcome to join the class at any time. The class meets from 1 to 3 p.m. each Tuesday. Return Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J.
