The win gave the Raiders a 7-1 season record, with one game left. Weber finished the season with a 5-4 record. The boys from Ogden, Utah, held the Raiders at bay for the first half, in making a second period field goal stand up for a 3-0 first half lead. The third period saw the Raiders score a single touchdown and take the lead, 7-3. Southern Oregon kicked off to start the second half. In three plays, Weber fullback Duffy Deavcr fumbled the pigskin, with the Raiders' de fensive guard Ken Bastian pouncing on the ball on the Wildcat 30 yard stripe. Milwaukee Braves Sold To Group Of Chicago Businessmen Milwaukee - IIIPII - The dest iny of the Milwaukee Braves today was in the hands of a group of young businessmen, who paid $5.5 trillion to shift the ownership of the National league team from faroff New England to Wisconsin's back yard.' Louis R. Prrini, Massachu setts construction baron and head of the Perinl Corp., which had owned the Braves for 20 years, announced late Friday the team was sold to the newly formed 11RB Corp., comprised of Chicago area executives, who all are form er stockholders of the Chicago White Sox. They had been un successful in purchasing con trol of the While Sox from the current owner. Shaw's touchdown run came with 5:04 left in the game wilh Oregon holding a 7-6 lead. Oregon Slate's other scores came at 14:50 in the final period on a 62-yard pass from quarterback Brian Barnes to halfback Jim Smith and with 46 seconds remaining on a four-yard run by Smith. The Frosh collected their score in the second period. Quarterback Jack Sovereign passed seven yards to end Ray Palm for the touchdown. The game ended the season for both teams. The Rooks finished with a 3-1 record and the Frosh ended with a 2-2 mark. Oregon State rolled up 270 total yards to 157 for Oregon. First downs were 9-9. Shaw was the leading ground gainer for the Rooks wilh 120 yards in 13 carries. Dal las is a 3-point favorite to keep the lead in the Western division when it meets the Broncos at Denver. In the close division races, the Patriots hold a half-game edge over the Oilers and the Texans hold the same margin over the Broncos. Support Your United Medford Crusade Sieg Story Proves One Of Success Oregon State University, Corvallis There are a num ber of reasons why the Ore gon State football team has a 7-2 record to date, but one of the big ones is the success story of Dan Sieg A fine prep back at Med- ford high, Sieg was somewhat ... . , , ! of a disappointment on last I year's OSU Rook football team. In fact, there was some doubt in the minds of the coaching staff as to whether Sieg would be much help to the Beavers until possibly his senior year. Those doubts ended fast when Sieg started performing in spring practice. He worked himself up the ladder and soon had ousted letterman Jim Sinyard from the team's No. 1 wingback job. When the season opened this fall, Sieg was still in that position, fighting off the chal lenge of four other aspirants.
