Saturday: Your Navy Coach Maintains USC Fudging Los Angeles - lUPL - Charges by Navy coach Wayne Hardin have turned a budding foot ball rivalry into a verbal cold war between the Middies and University of Southern Cali fornia over whether the lop rated Trojans are fudging in their offensive maneuvers. John McKay, coach of the No. 1 rated Trojans, was fuming after hearing reports Hardin accused the USC squad of "illegal motions, illegal formations and illegal proce dures." Hardin, who was on the re ceiving end a few weeks back when a Navy end "limped" to the sideline in a sleeper play against Pitts burgh, claimed USC linemen used a jerking motion to draw opponents off side. After seven straight victor ies, McKay said, "I don't know what we're doing wrong, if anything." He was "very sur prised and a little shocked," not to mention angry. He am plified his statement later by saying, "As far as I know, we operate within the rules of football." Hardin insisted he wasn I "really crying" on the eve of his game with the three-platoon Trojans at the Coliseum, "just pointing out facts. Southern Cal indeed is rated No. 1, "and you can't even find us," Hardin said. But he needled the Trojans by saying USC would "have to beat i worse than Penn Slate (41-6) and Syracuse (34-6) to prove they are No. 1." Boozer Leads Royal Triumph United Press International Teetotalin' Bob Boozer mav be the long drink of water the Cincinnati Royals have been looking for to challenge the Boston Celtics' domination of the National Basketball asso ciation's Eastern division. The 6-8, 215-pound Boozer, who has failed to live up to his high promise in two previ ous seasons with the Royals, scored 28 poinls and grabbed 19 rebounds in helping the Royals to a 125-120 victory over the Syracuse Nationals Wednesday night. Oscar Robertson led Cincin nati with 33 points as the Roy als knocked Syracuse out of first place and idle Boston moved into its familiar spot, Hal Greer scored 24 points to top the Nats.
