La.-IUPli-The last of four large tanks of potentially deadly chlorine gas was raised from the bottom of the Mis sissippi river Monday and re lieved townspeople settled back to "normal living." Elaborate civil defense preparations had been made for the emergency evacuation of about 80,000 residents with in a 30-milc area in the event the cholorine leaked from the tanks and became gas on con tart with air. The tanks were aboard a barge which sank 19 months ago. Salvage operations were ordered by the federal govern ment for fear the 75-foot tanks might rust and leak. The first tank was lifted from the sunken barge on Oct. 24. The tanks were taken down river to the Wyandolt Chem ical Co., at Ceiemar, La., and the chlorine was transferred to storage tanks. The barge was not touched because au thorities did not consider it a hazard.
