The bride is the former Miss Pennie Joan Freeman and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill J. Freeman, 17 Pcrrydalc avenue, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Garrett, Route 3, Medford. Their marriage was an event of July 28 in Daly City, Calif. The bride is a graduate of Medford High school and the bridegroom is stationed with the Navy on the USS Acme, n mine sweeper at Long Beach. Mr. Hawes attended Port land university and is now employed with General Mo tors Acceptance corporation, Medford branch, and is living in Roseburg. A November wedding is planned. Anniversary Celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Harry Han sen, Foothills road, were hon ored on the thirtieth anniver sary of their wedding Mon day, August 12, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Myers, Table Rock road. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were married August 20, 19.12, in Portland. They have lived In the Rogue valley for seven years, and reeei-tiy built their new home on Foothills roHd. Mr. Hansen is employed by McLaughlin Plumbing com pany, and both are active in the West Main Church of Christ. At the lawn party celebra tion a cake baked and deco rated by Mrs. David Bigham, a daughter of the couole, was served. Other children in clude Mrs. Versic, Lodi, Calif., Ronald Hansen, Snn Jose, Calif., and John Hansen, Seattle. Visitors Here Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Ford, 3284 Crater Lake avenue, were Robert Speed and Ar thur Pflughaupt, Des Moines. Iowa. Mr. Speed is a professnr of music at Grniulview col lege, and Mr. Pflughaupt Is an assistant professor of Eng lish at Drake university. Mr. Ford and Mr. Pflughaupt are cousins. MSB: $95 Central Point A double ring ceremony was used when Miss Nita Jean Traut man became the bride of Hal bert Lawrence Kemper on August 18. The bride is a daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Herbert Trautman, 829 Hazel street, Central Point. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Halbcrt L. Kemper, Salem. The Rev. Robert Cull per formed, the ceremony at First Assembly of God church in Medford. Approximately 150 persons attended the candle light rites, held at 8 o'clock in the evening. Mr. Trautman gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a floor length gown of bouquet taffeta fashioned with basque bodice and long sleeves. The scoop neckline was trimmed with appliques of Venice lace and embroi dered with pearls and irides cent sequins. The back of the full skirt was accented with a butterfly bustle, and the skirt ended in a chapel train. Her fingertip length veil was held by a queen's crown, and she carried a cascade bouquet of white rosebuds. Sister Is Attendant Mrs. Charles Bell, Merced, Calif., a sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Other attendants were Miss Sharon Trautman, Central Point, cou sin of the bride, and Mrs. Ern est Nelson, Central Point. Va lerie Emmons, cousin of the bride from Central Point, was flower girl. Miss Cheryl Ghelardi and Mrs. Adrian Stansfield lighted the candles. The at tendants wore frocks of ice pink chiffon over taffeta. fashioned with bell skirts Their headpieces were pink tulle covering a fabric rose. Mrs. Bell carried a bouquet of pink gladioli, while Miss Trautman and Mrs. Nelson carried white gladioli. The candlelighters wore wristlets of pink rosebuds, and the flower girl, who wore a pink nylon frock, carried a basket of gladioli petals. Clifford Ganskie, Salem, brother-in-law of the bride groom, was best man. Seating the guests were Adrian Stans field and Gary Olscn, Kla math Falls. Reception Held For the wedding and recep tion which followed in the church annex, the mother of the bride chose a blue sheath frock with white accessories, and a white rosebud corsage. The bridegroom's mother chose a mocha-colored lace dress, also worn with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Reinhold Bocs, Cen tral Point, an nunt of the bride, was hostess for the re ception. Mrs. John Anhorn, also the bride's aunt, and Mrs. Herbert Trautman Jr., sister-in-law of the bride, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Kenneth Trautman, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Rose Trautman, cousin of the bride, served punch. In charge of the gifts were Miss Royce Welch, Central Point, and Miss Norma Huise, Medford. Mrs. Arlo Emmons, a cousin of the bride, was at the guest book. For a wedding trip to the Oregon roast the bride wore a white brocade sheath dress with pink accessories and a white rosebud corsage. A graduate of Crater High school, the bride will begin work in the planning depart ment of the City of Medford in September. Iter husband, who was graduated from North Salem High school, is employed by Standard Sta tions, Sixth street and River side avenue. Out of town guests includ ed Mr. and Mrs. John Rings, Banks, Ore., grandparents of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Blackman. Salem, also grandparents of the bride groom; Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Granskie, Salem HONOR IAN Newlyweds Make Home In Hawaii Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Lee Burg, who were married in First Methodist church here August 17, have left to make their home in Hawaii. The bride, the former Joyce Marie Smith, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Earl Smith, 706 Beckman street. Mr. Burg is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Burg, Butte Falls. The Rev. George G. Rose berry read the rites at seven o'clock in the evening. About 75 friends and relatives at. tended. Yellow and white gladioli decorated the church. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a gown fashioned with tulle skirt and lace bodice, in street length. She carried a bouquet of yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Donald Bowling at tended the bride. Her yellow frock was fashioned with a green nylon tulle overskirt, and she carried yellow rose buds. Tony Rambo, Butte Falls, was best man, and guests were seated by Charles Smith, a brother of the bride, and Harvey Deen, Butte Falls. Following the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride's parents. For the wedding trip to California the bride chose a yellow brocade suit with white accessories. The bride Is a graduate of Medford High school, and is employed as a nurse s aide by Rogue Valley hospital. Mr. Burg, who was graduated from Butte Falls High school, is a lieutenant corporal in the United States Marine corps stationed in Hawaii. Sharon Annt Larson (Landis photo) Betrothal News Is Made Known Jacksonville Mr. an Mrs. Stanley Larson, Route 1, Box 10B, Jacksonville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sharon Anne, to Robert E. Relder. Mr. Reider is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Reider, Long Island. N. Y. Miss Larson was graduated from Medford High School in 1961. She is employed as a bookkeeper by Fluhrer's Bak ery. Mr. Reider, who was edu cated in New York, is em ployed as a civ'l engineer by Rogue River National forest. He is based at Star Ranger station. The couple plan to be mar ried in May. Halls Entertain Recent Guests Central Point - Recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hall and daughter Leslie, 347 North Third street. Central Point, were Mrs. Hall's parents and brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Christenson, Andrew and John, Sepulveda, Calif. MtDFOHD, OREGON Miss Kaiuko Kondo, Kobe, Japan, arrived In thm United Slates early this summer to stay for a year. She it living with Dr. and Mrs. Fred C. Lorith, 830 Minnesota avenue, and will enter Southern Oregon college in the fall as a fresh man student. A graduate of Women's Art college in Tokyo, Miss Kondo plant to study elementary art education here. Her brother, Hisayuki, was an American Field Exchange student two yeart ago, and he alto lived with the Lorish family. Another brother attend! Northland college in Ash land. Wise. Japanese Student Here; Will Enroll In Among new students at Southern Oregon college in September will be Miss Ka zuko Kondo, who is living with Dr. and Mrs. Fred C. Lorish and their family, 830 Minnesota avenue. Called Kako, the young na tive of Kobe, Japan, will ma jor in elementary art educa tion. She is a graduate at Women's art college in Tokyo, where her field of study was graphic design. Since she arrived in the United States on June 8, Miss Kondo has seen several sites on the west coast. On visiting Crater lake, she immediately sat down to paint. A visit to the city of San Francisco made Medford Family Home From Trip Mr. and Mrs. William L. While and children David, Barbara, Beth, Dick and Doug, who reside at 1103 Queen Anne avenue have just return ed from a vacation trip to Everett, Wash., where they were guests of Mr. White's mother. While there they at tended the World's Fair and visited with Mr. White's sis ter and family in Seattle. Also the family attended the Pacific Northwest Region al Model Railroad convention in Vancouver, B. C, Canada. A highlight of the convention was a fan trip by 3-truck shay steam locomotive and passenger cars from Vancouv er to Howe sound and return. Gates, 1758 Military road, will return to the campus of Stephens college, Columbia. Mo, a few days early this fall to Rttend a Student Leaders' workshop. Registration at the school will be held September 11 to IS. and classes will begin Sep tember 17. Entering as freshman at the two-year college will be Miss Gloria Gene Alexander, daughter pf Mr. and Mrs. Reese M. He has now returned to Japan where he is a student at Kwansei Gakuin university. Another brother, Kenji, is a student at Northland college, Ashland, Wise. A younger brother at tends high school in Japan. Among the young artists hobbies are skiing, sewing, and traveling. A new experi ence for her in the U. S. was a drive-in movie, and her fa vorite foods are hamburgers and pies. Fred Lorish, a son of Dr. and Mrs. Lorish, is now tour ing in Japan with a group of Stanford university students. It was held at Rogue Valley Country club. The group was headed by Walter Straley, president of the company, and chairman of the board. The men were accompanied by their wives and In charge of the meeting plans and en tertainment were Raymond Reter, a board member, and Mrs. Reter, assisted by Jack Creager, manager of the Med ford office of the company, and Mrs. Creager. Mrs. Reter entertained at luncheon Thursday noon at the Country club for those who had arrived at that time. That evening the company gave a cocktail party and din ner at Mon Desir Dining inn. Central Point. During the af ternoon the group toured Bear Creek orchards plant. From there, the group trav eled by chartered buses to Ashland to attend a perform ance at the Ashland Shake spearean Festival theater. On Friday noon the men met for luncheon at the Rogue Valley Country club and dur ing the afternoon held their meeting. On Friday morning Mrs. Family Returning Jo Cambodia Central Point Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hildenbrandt and their three children plan to leave in early September for their return to Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cam bodia in Southeast Asia, where they have lived the past two years. They have been guests for the past sev eral weeks of Mr. Hilden brandt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hildenbrandt in Central Point. Mr. Hildenbrandt has been working for the Cambodian municipal police as a police adviser with the agency for International development under the auspices of the United States Department of State. The family considers that all have gained from the ex perience of living in a for eign country and have the hope that they will make some enduring friendships among the Asian people with whom they consider it has been a privilege to work. . y :.."...:..' ): :' NO MONEY DOWN when Reter again was hostess at her home for a patio brunch at tended by wives of the offi cers and board members. During the afternoon the group of women made a tour of the valley and in Jackson ville visited the Beekman house, the Beekman bank, the Jacksonville Museum and the Doll house. That evening about 30 of the group attended another performance at the Shake spearean theater. A number of local business men and communications per sonnel were invited to the din ner and the men's luncheon. The group stayed during their visit here at the Thun derbird and Crater Inn mo tels.
