SUNDAY, AUGUST 19. 13S2 MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD. OREGON 8 C SOC Alumni Hold Election J- Ashland-Oscar F. Silver, Ashland high school vice-principal, was elected president of the All-Time Alumni of Southern Oregon college at a reunion held last week end at the campus. He succeeds Miss Adele Sheldon. Others elected to office were Miss Lois May, Ash land, vice-president, succeed ing Mrs. Margaret Mabie, Myrtle Point; and Mrs. Wayne Paulsen, Ashland, secretary. Miss May formerly had held that office. Engraved plaques were given several alumni includ ing Mrs. Alice Applcgatc Peil, pioneer educator and first supervisor of the training school at the Oregon State Normal school; Mrs. Louise Ganiere Perozzi, on honor student at the normal school, and Albert C. Joy, a former staff member at the early day school. Miss Sheldon was pre sented a desk pen set because of her six years in the office of alumni president. Alice French Willits, Ash land, represented the Old Timers branch of the associa tion, made up of persons who attended the school prior to 11)10. Gardeners Vote Opposition To Reapportionment Yreka - The evening sec tion of Yreka Garden club voted to go on record as op posing the California state Senate reapportionment bill which is on the November bal lot. The meeting was held Monday, August 13, at the home of Mrs. Vergil Nelson. Other business discussed at the meeting was the Phoenix flower show to be held Sep tember 9. Members are invit ed to attend the Blue Star " Highways Memorial dedica tion ceremony set for 2 p.m. the same day at Grass lake. The memorial project, first considered by the Shasta Val ley Garden club, is being han dled by the Cascade district of California Garden clubs, Inc., of which the Montague garden club is a part. It was .proposed to visit gardens In Etna next month instead of the usual mountain field trip this fall. Preceding the business meet ing members toured the gar den at the Home oi rar. ana Mrs. Frank Ohlund on Butte street. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mn. Grace Vlrier on Annie street. Refreshments were served ' by the hostess at the close of the meeting. Mrs. Carl Lind bergh was a guest. She was here for about two weeks and left last Mon day. During her visit she at tended one week of Girl Scout camping at Camp Low Echo which her hostess also attend ed. She attended Roosevelt school here. Her borlher, Roger Butter field, accompanied her on the trip and was a guest of other friends.
