Jeddeloh Named Director-Advisor Grants Pass - Fred Jeddel oh, Grants Pass manufacturer and businessman, has been ap pointed to the position of as sociate director - advisor of Stockman's Life Insurance Company' of America, it has been announced by company officials. The Insurance firm Is a new, Oregon legal reserve life insurance company now in the process of organization and based in Portland. One million shares of common non assessable stock are being offered to Oregon residents. Jeddeloh is a longtime resi dent of the area, is president of the Jeddeloh Brothers Sweed Mills, Inc., of Gold Hill, and is a partner in the Jeddeloh Brothers LuVnber company at Gold Hill. He is a member of the Medford and Gold Hill Chambers of Com merce and a four degree mem ber of the Knights of Colum bus. He and his family live at 799 Northwest Fourth st., Grants Pass. At board meetings of the Insurance company, Jeddeloh will make recommendations on matters of policy as they pertain to the Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland areas. Medford, supply sergeant. cent, the second battalion, 414th regiment, 104th divi sion, topped all other battal ion units at the summer en campment at Camp Roberts, Calif., according to Lt. Col. John F. Rush, Medford. j The second battalion, com-' posed of men from the Rogue : valley. Grants Pass and Klam- i ath Falls, won the Col. Edwin B. Nelson award for the out-1 standing battalion of the 414th regiment. Col. Nelson, recently of Salem, was the! former commander of t h e 414th regiment (BTC). j Maj. Gen. Eugene G. dish ing, Vancouver, Wash., com manding general of the 104th division, stated in an address to the troops that the regular Army evaluators considered the division's use of training aid, its methods of instruction and the procedures and tech niques used in training as superior in many instances to that displayed by the reg ular Army personnel. The 104th division was regarded by the evaluators as one of the outstanding divisions on the west coast and among the top training divisions in the nation. Evaluators The U. S. Continental Army command evaluators compos ed of brigade and battle group commanders from Fort Ord, Calif., cited all units of the second battalion for the De partment of the Army's cer tificate of meritorious per formance for the work done at the summer training camp. The awards will be made in the near future. The units and the commanders are Company E, First Lt. Dean Ruffner, Medford; Company F, Capt. Ted McDaniel, Medford; Com pany G, Capt. Eldon Everton, Grants Pass; Company H, Capt. Jack Moebius, Klamath Falls; and Headquarters Com pany, Capt. James D. Straus, Central Point. Lt. Col. Rush staled that the achievement of the second battalion at Camp Roberts, "was the result of team-work and an all out effort by every one in the command." Superior Rating The second battalion was given a superior rating for its staff performance. Col. Rush signaled out for special com mendation members of t h e battalion, Capt. James D. Straus, operations officer, Central Point; First Lt. How ard N. Ritchey, assistant oper ations officer. Grants Pass; Specialist First Class Robert C. Tugman, battalion sergeant major. White City; Staff Sgt. Ronald L. Von Der Hellen, op erations sergeant, Central Specialist Four Clifford D. Ambers, Klamath Falls, Com pany H, won the battalion's outstanding soldier award for his work at the summer ses sion. The second battalion's rifle team won the General's match in competition with all other I Douglas C. Ugstad, Grants units of the 104th division. Members, of the championship rifle team are First Lt. Don ald W. Johnson, Staff Sgt. Pass, Company E: First Lt. Robert D. Murphy, Staff Sgt. Richard J. Swinney, Special ist Four William B. Katzen- bach, Medford, Company E; and Specialist Four Norman Hooper, Medford, Company G. First Lt. Donald W. John son, Grants Pass, Company E, was third high in the in dividual scoring for the divi sion. Several members of the team will be selected to com pete for the 104th division in the Sixth Army rifle match to be held at Fort Lewis, Wash., in October. B 3 Brig. Gen. William H. No one believed him but his grandson, Dennis, 15. Late Monday, Dennis took a 16-gauge shotgun and accom panied his grandfather on his rounds. He spotted the cat in the rafters and fired. The cat weighed 13 pounds. Apparently it had been living i nn natc and mirp in the hllilri-1 P ing.
