He Is the eon of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth E. Hawkins, San Rafael, Calif. Miss Getchell is a graduate of Medford High school and Stanford university. She is now a member of the adminis trative staff of the university, and will arrive in Medford In early September for a stay here with her parents. She will travel to Africa to be married. Mr. Hawkins Is also a grad uate of Stanford university. He ia a member of Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity, and was captain of the gymnastics train al Stanford. He is now employed as a teacher by the government of Tangan yika, and is sponsored by the United States agency for in ternational development. The wedding is planned to take place in early October in the Anglican church in Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika. The Rev. Philip Getchell, brolher of the bride-elect, is now living In Toleda, Parana, Brazil, where he Is establish ing a series of missions for the Episcopal church. Medleys Make Tour Of Europe Mr. and Mrs. James Med ley, 33.1 West Jackson street, are home after a month's tour of eight European countries, part of which they traveled with former Medford resi dents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Mitchell, who taught in the Medford public schools. The Medleys met the Milch ells at Seville, Spain. The Mitchells however live at Rota, Spain where both arc with a U S. Navy base school. Mr. Mitchell as principal and Mrs. Mitchell as a physical education instructor. From Seville the group trav eled in the Mitchell's auto mobile throughout Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria. Monaco, and Ger many. They were in Nice, France on Rastille day, a na tional French holiday, and 'm , in in,- niHiiiriv ll-s- ! tivitics. This also was during ; the Lions International con vention held in Nice. Rcfore leaving Spain the group attended a hull fight and in Switzerland they tour ed the Alps. They also slopped in Monle Carlo, and spent : several days in Paris. Mr. Graham and Mrs. Mur phy are brolher and sister of the colonel. Miss Murphy had made her home with her uncle and aunt the past year and attended school in Med ford. Mrs. Lloyd Neilson was hos tess for a shower Tuesday night al her home, 2130 East Jackson street. The Neilson home was decorated as a French sidewalk cafe. Small tables were covered with red and white checked cloths and were centered with nosegays of flowers. Mrs. Harold Hous ton, a native of France, pre sented Miss Dcnyer her gifts. Oakland, Calif., has been set for September 8 in Medford, was honored at a luncheon given yesterday at Rogue Val ley Country club. Hostesses were Mrs. Glenn L. Jackson, Mrs. Robert Nor ris and Mrs. Robert Hart. Miss Durno, the youngest daughter of Congressman and Mrs. Edwin R. Durno of Med ford, came up from Berkeley, Calif., for the party, accompa nied by her fiance. They will return south today. Tables for the luncheon were decorated in pink flow ers and the honored guest was presented gifts. Women Give Tea For Conference Jacksonville Women of Ihe Jacksonsonville Presbyterian church gave a tea July 28 in the church rooms for mem bers of the Southern Oregon Conference of Historians which was being held that day in Ashland and Jacksonville. About 50 persons attended. Mrs. Otto Niedermeycr and Mrs. Fred Eden were in charge ot the event, assisted by Mrs. Dave Allen. Mrs. George Wcndt and Mrs. John Keaveny poured. An arrangement of summer chrysanthemums was a r ranged for the occasion by Mrs. Leonard McKee and the antique silver service used w us loaned for t lie occasion by Mis. Rulh Bowne Walker. Ceremony In Nevada Weds Pair An event of Saturday, July 28, was the marriage of Miss Sandra Lee Sanncr and Ray mond Lloyd Racklcy, Winne mucca, Nev. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ga len Sanner, 1708 Stratford avenue, and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Racklcy, Winncmucca. The Rev. R. W. Engscth per formed the ceremony in St. Paul's Episcopal church, Sparks, Nev. Immediate fam ily members attended the dou ble ring rites, held at 7:30 o'clock in the evening. The bridegroom's family was represented by his broth er, Robert Jackson, Lovelock, Nev. For the wedding the bride wore a sheath gown in cham pagne color, fashioned with overlapping draped skirt, scoop neck, and quilted neck line. Her white picture hat was of ruffled nylon, and she wore white accessories and a pearl pendant, a gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was a small beige orchid encircled by white stephanotis. Miss Barbara Gordon, Med ford, attended the bride. Her pink dacron frock was design ed with spaghetti straps, and she wore white accessories. Her corsage was of white car nations. Mr. Jackson served as best man for his brother. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Sanner wore a pale blue sheath dress with white ac cessories and white carnation corsage. Following the wedding a reception was given by the bride's parents at the Towne House motel in Reno. The cake served was the upper layer of a wedding cake given io the bride a week before by friends attending a shower in Medford. It was served by Miss Gaylcnc Sanner, Med ford, sister of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Sanncr were also hosts for a dinner party ;for guests and bridal party at the Nugget restaurant in Sparks. The newlywcd couple trav eled through Nevada and Ida ho on their wedding trip. The bride is a graduate of i Medford High school, and at tended the University of Ore- gon. i The bridegroom was gradu ated from Winncmucca High school, and is employed by Winncmucca Propane c o m pany. The couple will live in Winncmucca. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hendrix, newcomers to Medford, were among the guests at a reception held at Rogue gallery Wednesday evening to honor Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Onslow Ford. Inverness, Calif. Mr. Onslow-Ford's paintings make up the current exhibit at the gallery. Mr. and Mrs. Hendrix came to Medford from Sacramento. Calif., and Mr. Hendrix, on tha faculty of Amador County High school last year, will teach art classes at Hedrick Junior High school beginning in Sep tember. (Knacksecht photo) Beta Upsilon Chapter To Hold Poolside Show An evening tea and style show is planned by members of the Beta Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Tuesday, August 14 at 8 p.m., al the R. A. Skinner home, 2112 Hillside drive. Entertainment will include diving exhibitions by college students, members of the Dol phin club from the University of Oregon, who also will give an exhibition of synchronized swimming, and various skits. The team is made up of Richard Griffith, one of the Northwest's outstanding div ers who recently took a first Niles Smiths To Leave City; Parties Given Mr. and Mrs. Niles Smith, who have lived in Medford for many years, will leave Tuesday to make their home in Santa Maria. Calif. Mr. Smith will teach the fifth grade in one of the Santa Maria elementary schools, and Mrs. Smith will become dean of girls at a new high school in that city which is being used this fall for the first time. Mrs. Smith has been on the faculty at Eagle Point High school, and her husband has been teaching in the Sams Valley school. A farewell parly was given for the Smiths by Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Thurman, who in vited, neighborhood friends to the event. Mrs. Smith is a member of Chapter CG of the PEO sisterhood, and was given a handkerchief shower by the group. Last Tuesday a group of her friends honored her at a luncheon at Rogue Valley Country club. The Smiths have two daughters living In California.
