MEDFOHD, OREGON Sister, Brother Head Reames Chapter of OES Officers for Reames chap ter, Order of the Eastern Star, were installed In a ceremony at the Mcdford Masonic tem ple on June 30. Taking office as worthy matron was Mrs. Gene Dyke, who succeeds Mrs. Lloyd Caton. Mrs. Dyke's brother, Ross Gilkison, was Installed as her worthy patron. This is the first time in Reames chap ter's history that a brother and sister have served as worthy matron and patron. For the ceremony Mrs Dyke wore a gown of golden rust slipper satin with bead ed side panel in pearls and opalescent sequins. The drap ed bodice was also beaded. Mrs. Dyke wore a bronze or chid corsage. Former Teacher Hornbrook Visitor; Visit Iron Gate Hornbrook - Mr. and Mrs. Norman Martin, Covina, Calif., were recent visitors in Hornbrook. Mrs. Martin taught first and second prades, as well as music, in the Hornbrook school for sev- eral years before moving to southern California. She also conducted an adult Bible class In Hornbrook. While here the Marlins were taken to the Iron Gate riam by Mr. and Mrs. Law rence Breceda. They also vis- llcri in Montague with Gene Breceda. Before leaving they were guests of Mrs. Anna Cop pin and other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Martin left Thursday morning for Ev erett, Wash., and are also planning to visit friends in Canada. ' Schmechels Home After 10-Day Trip The A. H. Schmeehol fam ily, 441 Eastwooc drive, is home after being in Portland, their former home, for about 10 days. Mr. and Mrs. Schmechel with their sons, Todd and Dre,., made the trip north along the coast stopping en route at Yachals. In Portland they were housegucsls of the A. H. Schmechels Sr., and divided their time with Mrs. Schmech el's mother, Mrs. Lloyd John son, and Mr. Johnson; and her father, Montie Smallen, and Mrs. Smallen. They also were guests of Mr. Schmechel's grandmothers, Mrs. Ida Schmechel and Mrs. Fanny Brokenshlre; and Mrs. Schmechel's g r a nd in o t h -er, Mrs. Lnntie Smallen. Sister Arrives From Los Altos Mrs. William C. Strang, Los Altos, Calif., a former Mcdford resident. Is a house guest of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Hnlzgang, 626 Park avenue. She is accompanied by her son, Greg. They arrived about a week ago and plan to be here for another week. Othrr visitors at the Holz gang home last week were I heir son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ray Hnlz gang and Iheir children, Mi chael, David and Mark, of Portland. Mr. Hnlzgang is a student at the University of Oregon medical school. Talent Gardeners Plan Year Book Talent Plans were made by the Talent Garden club at a recent Hireling for Hie com pletion of a year book. The meeting was held at the home of Mis. John llaldwin. Luncheon preceded the business Hireling. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Long will be hosts for the next scheduled meeting of the club, to be held August 1 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to husband.''. Gold Hill Resident Host to Travelers Gold Hill Mrs. Laura Sander, San Antonio, Tex., and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Mc Kay, TrHil, were recent visi tors of Mrs. n. G. Wigle in Gold Hill. Randolph, past ma tron and Carl Oestreich, past patron; Mrs. John Bradshaw, marshal; Mrs. John Esp, chap lain and Mrs. Steven Wise man, past grand matron, organist. Named as courtesy ladies for the ensuing year were Mrs. Merlyn Harvey, captain Mrs. Kenneth Phillips, co-cap tain; and Mrs. J. H. Creagor, Mrs. Claude Hoover, Mrs. W. S. Spence, Miss Daurice Meyers. Mrs. Frank Knox, Mrs. Gladys Rammin and Mrs. Paul Mitchell. Their flowers were wristlets of yellow and. white daisies. The chapter room was dec orated with yellow and white daisies and gladioli and m the East was word "faith," the worthy matron's theme. Mrs. Dyke and Mr. Gilkison Introduced their relatives. Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gcwiss, Eugene, daughter and son-in-law of Mrs. Dyke, her son, Roger Dyke, and Miss Pamela Gilki son. During installation three solos were sung by Mrs. Martel Peters accompanied by Miss Vera Donnelly. Miss Gilkison, daughter of the pa tron, played several piano selections. Mrs. Dyke's brother pre sented her with a gavel and the new corps of officers hon ored the new worthy matron and patron with an addendum which concluded with the pre sentation nt a gift to each Mrs. Dyke . presented Mrs. Lloyd Caton wilh her past matron's jewel. (Landis photo) Seniors To Enter Exhibit; Slides Scheduled Monday Mr. and Mrs. George Ham mond of the Rogue Valley Manor will show colored slides taken during a trip in eastern United States and Can ada at the Arm Chair Travel er's group Monday, July 9. The session will start at 1 p.m. at the Senior Activity center, 601 East Jackson street. The pictures will Include scenes in Montreal, the New England states during the fall, Washington DC., and the Ozarks. This will be the second showing by the Ham monds who moved to the man- from the San Fernando Valley in California. The showing is opening to ! Oil Painting The members ot the oil painting classes have been asked to exhibit as a group with the Southern Oregon So ciety of Artists on Saturday, July 14, during the annual Greenwich Village show at the Mcdford Library park. The group meets at 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons. New, members are welcome. 1 The copper tooling class meets each Wednesday at 1 p.m. Mrs. Ethel Byers is the 1 teacher. If the articles are accepted for sale, the remaining nine dol lars for life membership in the Craftsmen may be paid out of sales during the first year. Most excellent chief, Mrs. Lloyd Bishofberger presided. The grand chief, Mrs. Berta Fischer of Santa Barbara will visit Yreka on September 26.
