T.-..V, Cam J0i)C I CCJIil I I Ulil hsti.u.e at Rally Fred Thompson and five other members of a gospel team from Prairie Bible in stitute, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, will be featured at the Youth for Christ Rally to morrow night in McLoughlin Junior High school at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Thompson, speaker for the group, was graduated from the Reformed Episcopal seminary, Philadelphia and serves as an English teacher in the Bible School depart ment. The learn includes a male quartet and pianist. Prairie Bible institute is primarily a training institute for missionaries, pastors, and Christian workers. The total high school and Bible school student body now numbers about 1000. Nearly 1200 form er students arc now serving as missionaries on foreign soil, while hundreds of others are engaged in pastoral and other Christian services in the United States and Canada. The principal of the insti tute, L. E. Maxwell, is known as a Bible teacher, editor and author. Evangelist Is Scheduled in CP Central Point - Evangelist J. Q. Hunter, Ashland, work ing with Village Missions, will be the guest speaker at the morning and evening services at the Community Bible church, Fourth and Alder sts., Central Point, Sunday. Mr. Hunter has ministered in several churches in this area and is known as a youth conference speaker as well as an evangelist. John Power, Prospect, helped plan the 14th annual Town and Country Church confer ence at Oregon State univer sity Aug. 6 through 10 by serving on the planning com mittee, according to the Rev. Kenneth C. Larson, Corvallis, chairman. The committee has planned a completely "new look" for this year's conference, with the emphasis on continuing education for the clergy, church and community lead ers and others interested in the town and country church, Mr. Larson said. The program will center around basic courses In com munications, changes in Ore gon agriculture and forestry and the implications of com munity change. In addition, general sessions are planned each day on such subjects as the changing con cept of the family farm, rural areas development, resources of the land grant institution, family income management, community action through farm and home organizations and music. Several elective classes will also be offered each day. Housing Arrangements Housing and meals will be provided on the OSU campus with special arrangements be ing made for family groups. A Corvallis church will pro- vide nursery and child care at cost during conference ses sions. The conference is planned and sponsored by representa tives of the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon, state and local church women's associa tions, denominational repre sentatives, Oregon Council of Churches, Oregon Farm Bu reau federation, Oregon-Washington Farmers union, Oregon Home Economics Extension council and Oregon State Grange in cooperation with OSU and Cooperative Exten sion service. Meetings beginning at 7 a.m. and continuing through the day will feature two church world leaders from Washington. DC; Elder E. R. Walde, director of the radio and television department, and Elder A. Announcement of the three day gathering was made by Harlan Nixon, presiding min ister of the Medford congre gation. About 251 Witnesses from the Medford and Cen tral Point area will be among the expected 4,000 delegates. Organizational arrange ments are under the supervi sion of Lester M. Dugan, trav eling representative of World Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, currently serving as district minister for the west coast area. Dugan will start off the assembly organi zation July 7, when more than 200 members of Jeho vah's Witnesses will meet at the Sons of Norway hall in Eureka. There he will intro duce Elmer Manfredi, veteran assembly manager, who will instruct volunteer workers canvassing the Eureka, Areata and Fortuna area for rooms to house visiting delegates. Daily Masses On all week days other than those already mentioned, masses are at 6:30 and 8 a.m. The second Saturday of each month (July 14, Aug. 11 and Sept. 8) the parish devo tions honoring Christ in tha Holy Eucharist are held with exposition of the Blessed Sac rament beginning at 1 p.m. General adoration, with pray ers led by members of tha Catholic Daughters, continues until 9 p.m., at which hour the Nocturnal Adoration so ciety vigil begins and con tinues throughout the night until 6 a.m. The perpetual novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help is held at 7:30 p.m. every Fri day, followed by benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Christians List Coming Activities The Rev. Fredrick Ross Ev ans will speak at both services Sunday morning at the First Christian church. His sermon title is "The Mind of Christ Concerning Faith." The chan cel choir will i sing the an them "Lord, For Thy Tender Mercies' Sake." Mrs. S. A. Sutherlin and Mrs. Price Shafer will be hostesses at the coffee hour following the second service. Several members of the Junior High department will leave Sunday afternoon for Little River Christian camp near Glide, for a week's camp ing. The Rev. Wendell Wag ler, assistant minister, Is to be a camp counsellor. The Chi Rho and Interme diate Youth Fellowships will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Douglas Mann will be study leader for tha latter group. The Christian Youth Fel lowship will meet at the M. R. North home at 6:30 p.m. Cathy Moore will lead devo tions and Walter Conner will give the study. The CYF mid week summer recreation pro gram will start Wednesday evening. They will meet at the church at 6:30 p.m. to go play miniature golf. Tomorrow the newly form ed Intermediate Youth Fel lowship will meet at tha church at 8:15 a m. to go to Casey's park for a planning retreat. At their last meeting officers elected were Douglas Mann, president; Dale Carson, vice president; Cathy Hear rell, secretary; and Dianna Pickens, treasurer.
