Return Frorh Convention Twelve members from Med ford traveled to Corvallis for the annual state convention of the National Association of Letter Carriers and Auxiliary. At the convention Mis. Larry Rose was clccled a delcgate-at-large to attend the national convention at Den ver. Coin., September 2 through 8. Those receiving state of fices were: Mrs. Carson Bai ley. Portland, president; Mrs. Harry Sweetman, Coquille, vice president; Mrs. Arnold Barzce, Corvallis, secretary; Mrs. Donald Graves, Salem, treasurer; Mrs. E. J. Jurgen son. Eugene, organizer. During the session Mrs. Arthur Lindholm, Portland, chairman, board of laws, Na tional Ladies auxiliary, and James RadairiRkcr, Detroit, Mich., assistant secretary and treasurer, National Associa tion of Letter Carriers, spoke. Letter carriers were encour aged to write letters to their congressman seeking passage of the Morrison pay raise bill. Mr. Radamakcr was in favor of encouraging men, not women, to get new auxili ary members. ' The next state convention will be held in Eugene in May, 1US3. The Medford members at tending the convention were: Students Will Work In Volunteer Corps New York (UPO N early 1,000 college students will be sent to posts across the nation this summer as members of a volunteer work corps orga nized by the United Presby terian church in the United States. The young people will work on urban renewal proj ects, on Indian reservations. in Alaskan fishing villages, in the southern mountains and in Puerto Riro. They will develop commu nity recreation programs, hold vacation church schools and offer services to settle ment houses, among other assignments. 1 13 Midon Gas Appliances in Use New York ll)PII-The Ameri can Gas association says there now are 113 million gas appli ances in use in the country today. This averages three appli ances for each of America's 41 million families using gas and it is a total gain of 3 mil lion over the number of gas appliances in service at the end of 19B0. Mrs. John Novak, and Mrs. Wilbur Martin were named by the noble grand to preside at the outgoing presidents tables during Ihe Rebekah Assembly in Medford. Sponge mildewed rugs and carpets with soap suds or a rug shampoo.
