The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' William Whip ple. 3931 South Pacific High- way, Grants Pass, and the bridegroom is a son of Everett Stienhardt of Rogue River. Mr. Whipple gave his daugh ter in marriage. Miss Hazel Williams, Grants Pass, an aunt of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridegroom's father was best man. Mrs. Leslie Boardman, ganist, furnished the wedding music. About 30 persons attended the reception given by the bride's parents in their home. The bride attended Emer son school in Butte, Mont., and Rogue River, Ore., schools. The bridegroom is a station manager at Rogue River. Sis-Q Council To Hold Election Officers will be elected when Rogue Sis-Q Area Coun cil of Square Dancers will meet at the Roxy Ann Grange hall Tuesday, May 15, at 8 p.m. Each member club is asked to have four delegates or al ternates present. The Star Promenaders will host this meeting. They sug. Rest that those attending take dancing shoes. Any interested square dancer Is invited to attend. Before turning over the gavel to the new president Mrs. Foster expressed her ap preciation for the cooperation of the club members who had made her two-year term a memorable and successful one. Mrs. Roberts responded brief ly with the hope of continued activity and outlined several plans for next year's program. Speaker for the afternoon session, Mrs. Inez Cavelle of Pacific Northwest Telephone company, told of the direct dialing system that is to go in to effect here July 15. She explained the area code num bering whereby a call can be made direct to 5500 cities in the United Slates and Canada, with all of the facts involved recorded on perforated tape for company and customer statements. She said that telephone In stallations, which are increas ing at the rate of 8,000 a day in the United States, make efficient automation impera tive, but that the new system will not mean a decrease in employees although there will be a slight decrease in certain rates. In observance of Federa tion Poetry month, Mrs. Ger trude Bartlelt and Mrs. Pearl Crouch gave several of their own poems and in conclusion Mrs. Roy Nye read a rhymed review of the past club year's accomplishments. M r s. Dooms was elected delegate to the state conven tion in Portland, May 7 through 10. Others from the Ashland Civic club attending the state sessions are Mrs. Nye, state international af fairs chairman, and Mrs. Fos ter, state chairman of mineral and wildlife division of con servation. A noon covered dish lunch eon was served by the Mes dames Hedges, Hazel Thomp son, Katherine McLean, Stella Corthcll and Mabel McDer mott. The opening meeting of the fall will be held in Sep tember but during the sum mer there will be a picnic in Lithia park. Ashland Women Plan Installation Ashland - New officers of the American Legion auxili ary, Guy Applewhite post, are to be installed at a session Tuesday in Legion hall on Winburn way. The meeting will begin at 8 p m. and a social hour will follow. Mrs. John Scott Hall Is the president. Others on the exec utive board are Mrs. George Enle. first vice president; Mrs. H. F. Miss Elizabeth McGallaird nurse from the Jackson Coun ty Health departm. .t, said plans are under way to give the Sabin oral vaccine in the county. Those present were told to watch the newspaper for information on the pro gram. This was the last meeting until September 11 when the group will resume meetings. Members of the unit com ing from Mcdord other than Mrs. Kyer and Mrs. Knapp were Mrs. Paul Dix, Mrs. Brennan and Mrs. Ivan Bur ton who became a new mem ber of the group on May 2. Mrs. Paul Molloy reported that $22 had been received for the Cancer Crusade as a re sult of envelopes left at Gold Hill schools. Of that figure $5.85 was donated by seventh graders in Dean Robert's cla.ssroom from their party fund. She said these young sters had voted during a class meeting to sponsor a door to door Cancer Crusade on Wednesday, May 3 after school. Home From Gates Gold Hill - Mr. and Mis.
