In 1957, he retired as a bank er from the Bank of America in San Diego, Calif., where he had been employed for many years. After his retire ment, he lived for a short time in Utah, then moved to Gold Hill in 1959. In 1922. in San Diego, he was married to Greta A. Kressman, who died in 1940. On April 23. 1942, he was married to Elvina Johnson, who survives. Other survivors include one son, the Rev. John C. Colburn, Pico Rivera, Calif., and one daughter, Mother Virginia, M.S.C. Sacred Heart church, Seattle, Wash. SAM L. JOHNSTON Sam L. Johnston, 79, box 24, Applegate, died in a local hospital Tuesday. Funeral ar rangements will be announc ed by Perl Funeral home. Mil ler, son of Mr. and Mrs. completed four weeks of indi vidual combat training with the Second infantry training HARRY R. RANDLEMAN Rogue River - Harry Ray mond Randleman, 77, died Monday at his home in Rogue River. He had been a resident of the area for the past 19 years. Mr. Randleman was born Aug. 19, 1884, in Huron, S.D. Survivors include his wife, Delia Myrtle: three sons, Roy Edward Randleman, Coquille, Ore.; Randy Randleman, To ledo, Ore.; and Harry R. Ran dleman Jr., Rogue River; four daughters, Mrs. Delia Caton, Clatskanie, Ore.; Mrs. Col leen David, Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Velma Combs, Ar vin, Calif.; and Mrs. Amy Clark, Glcndale, Calif.; two half-brothers, Oral Randle man, Cottage Grove, Ore.; and Floyd Randleman, of Cali fornia; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Miller, of Missouri. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hull and Hull Funeral home, Grants Pass. SAM W. HESS Funeral services for Sam W. Hess, 63. of 806 West Main st., Medford, who died Mon day, will be held at Perl Fu neral home at 2:30 p.rri. Fri day. The Rev. Bruce Rogers, pastor of the Trinity Baptist church, will officiate. Inter ment will be private at Hill crest Memorial park. Mr. Hess was born Dec. 23, 1898, at Warsaw, 111. He has lived in Medford for the past 18 years and recently retired as a construction worker with the Peter Kiewitt Construc tion company. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy from 1917 to 1919 and with the U.S. Marine Corps May 4, 1942, to July 24, 1942. He was a member of the VFW. the American Legion and Eagles Lodge. In 1945, in Medford, he was married to Hazel E. Bagley, who sur vives. Other survivors include, one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Benjamin, Sacramento, Calif.; one step-son, Arthur L. Thom as, New Galic, Fla.; three step-daughters. Mrs. Anise Wilfcr, Eureka. Calif., Mrs. Myrtle M. Hall, Medford, Mrs. Betty J. Zander. Cen tral Point, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. will officiate. Committal will be in Hillcrest Memorial park, with Conger-Morris Funeral directors in charge of arrange ments. Mr. Reed was born July 4, 1881, in McCook, Nebr., and had lived in southern Oregon 23 years. He was married Oct. 5. 1922, in Hoxie, Kan., to El len Sherman, who survives After his marriage, they moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and formed until 1939, when they moved to the Rogue Valley. Survivors, besides his wife, include three daughters, Mrs. Edna Myers, Central Point, Ore.; Mrs. Florence DeWolf, Crescent City, Calif.; and Mrs Margaret Mayfield, Central Point; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son preceded him in death in infancy. Casket bearers will include Ira D. Hardin, Herbert Wil son, Austin Dollar, Henry Cas per, Earl W, Weaver, and El roy Harth. EFFIE M.
