The event is sponsored by Alpha Lambda chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Interna tional, and. will also observe Founders' day. Guests will be members of two other valley chapters, Delia Omega and Beta Nu, and members of Beta Sigma Phi chapters in Jackson coun ty. Mayor John W. Snider has praised the work of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority for the group's participation in civic affairs. "I would like to call atten tion, Mayor Snider said, "to the fine work being done by Epsilon Sigma Alpha Inter national on the occasion of 'Sorority Week," May 5 to 10, 1062. Dairy Princess Applications Now Open A Dairy Princess contest to point up Dairy month In June, will be conducted by Jackson County dairymen in cooperation with other organ izations. Washington PTA Sets Installation Installation of officers will take place when the Washing ton Parent-Teacher associa tion holds its last meeting of the season Friday, May 11, at 2:30 p.m., in the school gym nasium. Guest speakers on the pro gram will be Mrs. Alice Webb and Mrs. Irene Stephens, who will talk and give a demon stration on SRA reading tech niques, pertaining to the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade level. Musical entertainment will be furnished by the boys' chorus and the school or chestra. Refreshments will be served by mothers of children in the first grade from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Family night will be held Friday evening, June 1, at the school. April 30 a con vention luncheon was held at the home of Mrs. William Cox for members of the chapter. May 12 Installation of new officers will be held at the Medford hotel. May 14 a busi ness meeting will be held at the Herb Partridge home. Contest To assist in planning for the contest, Calvin H. Cran dell, Portland, executive sec retary of the Oregon Dairy Products commission, will be, in Medford Thursday, May 10 when he will meet with dairy men and others inter ested, at 8 p.m., in the Jack son county extension build ing at the fairgrounds off South Highway 00. Young women who are in terested in becoming a dairy princess should call Lester Adams, SPring 3-6651 week' days or Mrs. Ernest Radom- ske, ULrich 5-1674 evenings; or at anytime George Holt, KEystonc 5-2076 and Mrs, Walter Herzog, NOrmandy 4-2025. Deadline for making application is May 15. The contestants must be 16 years old and not more than 25 years old, and must cither be graduates of high school or in their senior year. Girls who enter will re ceive some charm school training; will appear on tele vision programs, and the local winner will receive a $150 wardrobe, plus expenses to a slate contest. The local win ner will be chosen by June 15. Installation Set For Jackson PTA Jackson Parent-Teacher as sociation will hold installation of officers at a meeting Fri day. May 11, at 2:15 p.m. in the auditorium. Mrs. cnesier Keene Jr., president of Coun ty Council of Parent-Teacher associations will be installing officer. A group of sixth grade stu dents under the direction of Don Perry will perform sev eral square dance numbers. Room mothers of the first grades will be in charge of refreshments. Babysitting will be provid ed in the health room with an adult in charge. School will be dismissed at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11. Stewart, teach er of language arts in the West Side, will speak at a meeting of College Women's Club of the Roaue River Val ley Saturday. May 12, at 2 p.m. in Girls Community club. Taking as her topi "High lights of Life Abroad," Mrs. Stewart will base her remarks on experiences she has had in many places of the world where she has lived. The countries include Japan and Major Stewart, was assigned Germany, where her husband, on United Slates Army duty. He is now in charge of the armory on West Jackson street. Mrs. John Deaver and Mrs. Robert Lawrence will be the hostesses. Assisting them will be Mrs. Bert Slancliffe. social chairman, and her committee. PTA Holds Installation Of Officers Tiller-Drew - Mrs. Wayne Peterman installed officers at the last meeting of Tiller Drew Parept-Teacher associ ation. The new officers are Mrs. John Wilson, president; Mrs. Richard Williams, vice president; Mrs. Roy Jackson, secretary and Mrs, Glann Rogers, treasurer. About 70 attended the meet ing. Volunteers to chaperone the seventh and eighth grade wiener roast were Mrs. Budd Fisher, Mrs. Clair Henry, Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. Richard Williams and Albert Martin. The party is to be held May 25 at a campsite on the South Umpqua river. PTA members voted lo give the Little League S3 to help toward uniforms. Mr. Martin asked for volunteer drivers to help get the Little Leaguers to practice and games. Those wishing to help may leave their name at the Tiller store. What to do with the money earned from the Tiller Varie ties was discussed. Both an electric scoreboard and a scholarship fund were dis cussed, and the scoreboard won out. Tiller Elementary school will have an electric score -d next fall. $127 was taken in at the door wnen the Varieties play ed at Days Creek April 27. PTA members decided to leave up to the cast how the money should be divided be tween the PTA and the junior class. Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Clair Henry, Mrs. Argyle Matthews, Mr. Elmo Picht, Mrs. Hillard Lilligren. Mrs. Ralph Martin, Mrs. Jack Hughes, Mrs. La Fontaine and Mr. Halloran, parents of puoils in the eighth, were honored. The Tiller school band played under the direction of Stanley Girt and slides of the operation of the Umpqua Na tional Forest were shown and narrated by Don Darling, Roseburg. Refreshments were served in the cafeteria. Camp Fire Girls Visit Show "Chiming Bells" second grade Blue Birds from Hoover school, visited the Uncle Bill cartoon show at KBES-TV sta tion Tuesday, May 1. accom panied by their leader, Mrs. Carol Kennedy. On the trip were Lori Cast er, Joyce Holmes, Kathi Ken nedy, Lynn Kingslien. Joan Macpherson, Carla Pearson and Diane Schwann, troop members, and Susan Ken nedy, a first grade student at Hoover school. Mc(Jui 136 Hillcreii Receptioo Is Given For Mrs. McKee Eagle Point - Among the more than 100 guests at a recent party which honored Mrs. Floyd McKee, who will retire soon after having taught school for 25 years, was one of her former teach ers and one of her first stu dents. The former teacher is Mrs. Sanford (May) Richardson, Table Rock. The early-day pupil is Mrs. William Ziegler, Applegate, the former Maud Poole. Also among the guests was Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Nealon of the Table Rock area, long time friends of the honored woman, and four generations of the McKee family. The reception for Mrs. Mc Kee was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barrows. Hosts were teachers of the Eagle Point Elementary school, where Mrs. McKee teaches. They presented her a lamp for her home. Ralph Humphrey, who was one of her students when he was in the eighth grade and was assistant principal for the school in which she taught last year, made the presenta tion. Mrs. Steven Wisely took charge of the guest book. Mrs. Glenn D. Hale, Mrs. Robert Work and Mrs. Eleanor Mit chell served refreshments. Temple Members To Be Honored Past queens and charter members will be honor guests at the no-host luncheon pre ceding the regular meeting of Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, Saturday, May 12. The luncheon will be at 12 noon at the Medford hotel and the meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Medford Masonic temple.
