Surely there are better ways of improving one's mind than by trying to drive one's wife out of hers, ' with mysterious comings and goings and goings-on. , Perhaps the first thing Peter's lawyer-friend should help him with is how to talk plain English to a wife. His method of showing Ann that she was in a mental rut is a brutal one, to say the least. Why couldn't he have de scribed his restlessness to her, listened to her suggestions (even the same old ones) for perking things up, mentioned the way out offered by The Leader? He would have left fnuror r-ur milTC hlirtZCOning promises than resulted from his close-mouthed, angry reso lution of the problem. Also, the same lawycr-benc factor might outline how close Peter came to inflicting the mental cruelty the di vorce statutes talk about when he spent so much time slicking up before the mirror without telling Ann why. Why must the points on the show handker chief be Just so for a debute on The Probability of The Possibility? Ann couldn't help but have Ihosc suspicions which Peter says hurt him. They hurt her worse. But now that the mystery is solved, let's get further into the mystery of why it ever developed, and how to profit from it. It developed because these two couldn't communicate he re: his boredom; she re: her mys tification. At this rate, Peter was ending both his boredom and his marriage. Ann would soon have no other recourse but to slick up herself and the kids and let Pete wonder where they were. The right answer, of course, dies In adult educa tion courses for both. After accompanying Ann while she registers, Pete can decide whether to hire a baby sitter and attend classes the same night as his wife, or to go separate nights and baby-sit for each other.
