The stamps are a part of the collection of Mrs. Mabel Houck, member of the Southern Ore gon Stamp club, who entitled the booklet "The Greatest Life Ever Lived." h, v . . V j. "A certain man went ; . down to Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves ... but a certain Samaritan . . . had compassion on him and set him on his own beast and brought him to on inn . . ." luke 10:30-34. . This stomp issued in Poland depicts the angel at the empty tomb. Mrs. Houck illustrated the stamp with the Bible quotation "And the angel answered and said unto the woman, 'Fear not ye, for I know that yt seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said...'" Mart. 28:5-6. m- -i 1 t nr.' The accompanying quotation is "The angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph In a dream, saying 'Arise ond take the young child ond his Mother, and flee into Egypt ... for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him'." Matt. 2:13. 5 t L L f r, ' " " , .V V , t i 1 VJI- s v' -::' One of the more artistic stamps in the collection devoted to Christ is this Madonna and Child issued by the Saar, a region of Germany. The collection includes stamps from The Congo, Ireland, Belgium, New Zealand, Trieste, Israel, and other lands. t ' v y mlw'r V VH 1 Mrs. Houck chose a stamp from Italy to Illustrate the fact that Jesus was a teacher. Her Bible verse reads in part "he went throughout every city and village preaching and showing the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God" . . . luke 8:1. 1 I, : ' " r7 ImIIIIIII i lllirib'iMMMM "'' - ' . I ' . ...J An elaborately engraved stamp designed by a German artist has the empty cress, so significant to the Christian religion, as Its central feature. A Spanish stomp depicts the story of Christ's baptism. In the collection It ii accompanied by this quotation: "Then came Jesut from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized by Him." Malt. 3:13.
