Forty five science and mathematics teachers from throughout the country were picked for the special aca demic year institute. Each will receive a $3,000 grant, Plus tuition and fees, travel and book allowances, and de pendent allowances in the case of married teachers. The institutes are part of the National Science Founda tion program to improve sci ence and to increase the U.S. supply of top quality scientists and engineers. Oregon State university was one of 16 col leges in the country named by NSF to start the academic year institutes in 1957-58 and will be one of 55 giving the training in 1962-63. All high school science and mathematics teachers from the 50 states were eligible to ap ply for the grants provided they had at least three years teaching experience. Dr. Stanley E.
