Crater Grants Pau Pet. 1 000 1.000 1.000 .000 .000 Central Point-Ashland high ran its Southern Oregon con ference baseball record to two wins without a loss here yesterday by defeating Crater 7 to 4. The victory pulled the Griz- zlics into a tie with Medford at the top of the standings. Bob King, while hurling a six-hitter at the Comets, al lowed six bases on balls but struck out batters 11 times. Dean , Samuelson with two hits in two times up and Larry Fierce with a ground rule double led the Ashland batting. Mike Glines had two hits for Crater and he and Pal Pepper each doubled for the Comets. 14 Left on Bait The Grizzlies left 14 men stranded on base paths while the Comets left seven. Ash land was helped by 10 walks and a hit batter off Crater moundsmen who combined for six strikeouts. Three double plays were re corded in the game, two by Crater. Ashland batted around in getting three runs in the fourth inning. Four bases on balls, a hit batter, a sacrifice by Rick Pierce, a single by Rick Callahan, a fielder's op tion, a wild pitch and a stolen base were elements of the scoremaking. The Grizzlies packed their scoring into three frames and allowed Crater single runs in four separate innings. Boxer Continues In Improvment Bluefield, W. Va. lUPD Heavyweight boxer Tunney Hunsaker continued to show some improvement from a brain injury suffered in a bout last Friday night. Dr. E. L. Gage, who per formed two emergency brain operations on the former po lice chief, said Wednesday Hunsaker showed a "gradual but slow improvement." Oregon Ducks Blank Pacific Eugene - IUP11 - Sophomore Arba Ager pitched a one-hit ter to give the Oregon Ducks a 4-0 baseball victory over the Pacific Badgers here Wednes day. Ager, a lefthander, gave up a single with one out in the ninth inning. He struck out nine batters and did not walk a man.
