(Knackstedt photo) Hospital Auxiliary Gives Tea Monday More than 100 persons at i tended the annual auxiliary tea at Rogue Valley Memorial : hospital Monday afternoon, according to the president, Mrs. Otto j; Frohnmayer.! . Each year the public is in vited to visit the hospital dur ing National Hospital week, to become - better acquainted with the work being done by .employees and volunteers. Mrs. Frohnmayer reports that much interest was shown in the exhibits, arranged in the Board and Staff room and adjacent areas. Charles I. Gustafson, administrator, showed a new bed and table unit, and chairs designed for patient rooms. ' : ' - Dorcas Society Announces Tea A mother-daughter tea with the theme "Mother Travels to Germany",, will be given by the Dorcas society at 7 p.m. 'Tuesday, May 16, at Ascension Lutheran church, 2501 Bar nett road. Special recognition will be given the mother with the most grandchildren and ' the mother coming the great est distance. Miss Nancy Shaver, South. era Oregon college student, will be guest speaker. Music will be furnished by the Junior and Nursery choirs. A worship ,. offering will be taken. .' All members and friends of the group are invited. Mrs. Mary Vanderlln, di rector of nursing, arranged a display of nurses' caps. The variety of styles worn by graduates of different schools of nursing was brought out. Many items made by the auxiliary sewing group were shown, along with samples of work done by. tne surgical dressings unit, and "Pinky Puppet", from an outlying chapter In Prospect. The pup pet toys are given to child patients. Hospital employees wearing uniforms of at least eight dif ferent, departments appeared to "model" the outfits before guests. Saturday) 7 p.m. - Klwanls pBrty, Thurston Dance Studio Slew art ave. 4 Third Graders Hold Tea For Mothers The third graders of How ard school were hosts for a tea, honoring their mothers and a few grandmothers Fri day, May 12, in the Howard school gymnasium. Each mother wore a car nation corsage, which her child had made and present ed to her. The corsages were made from red and pink tissue. Entertainment for the aft ernoon included poems, music and folk dancing. Several children took part in reading a poem, "Mothers Are For ," which told of all the things mothers do lor us. . All of the third graders joined together to make a large chorus. They sang four n u m bers: . "Mother's Day Song," "Flowers for Mother," ''Nobady Knows But Mother," and "How I Love My Home:" The chilldren in Mrs. Ber ry's room danced a round- dance called "Glowworm." Mrs. Fisher's children danced 'Greensleeves," which is also i round-dance. Both rooms participated in the square dance "Solomon Levi." Refreshments were served from a : tea table, centered with a bouquet of hawthorne and Iris in shades of laven der and pink. Officers Named By Crater Club v - Central Point Mrs. Clif ford Green was elected presi dent of Crater Garden club at a recent meeting. Others elected were Charles Taylor, vice-president; Mrs. Warren Holbrook, secretary; Mrs. Arthur Strauss, treasur er, and Mrs. William Strauss, historian. , Thursday, May 18, the club will show pictures taken of flower gardens at the Ernie Dayback home in Tiller two weeks ago when the club held a picnic there. The meeting will be held at the Strauss home In Central Point. California Coupfe , Visitors in County Gold Hill Mr, and Mrs. Homer Gray, Paradise, Calif.", were guests last week end of his brother, Thomas Gray, Jacksonville, and Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Gray and family, Gold Hill. The Grays took their guests for a sightseeing tour of southern Oregon's scenic .spots. The visitors were also guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Malone In Gold Hill prior to returning to Cali fornia. Mrs. Arthur Webster, Medford lodge president. opened the meeting, Mrs. Har old Elliott gave the address of welcome and responses were by Mrs. Doerfling and Mrs. Baker.. Mrs. Gertson led a school of instruction. A memorial service was conducted with Mrs. Ina Phillips and .Miss Adabee Seller, Medford, sing ing. Mrs, Deala Wynn. Klam ath Falls, accompanied them. Mrs. Gertson gave the flowers charge and presented red carnations to the initi ates. Art Show Open At Britt Gallery Ashland - An all-school art kshow, including paintings, graphics, ceramics, and de sign is presently on exhibit in . the Southern Oregon col lege Britt Art gallery, Room 117. according to Miss Mari on Ady, chairman of the art department. The pieces represent the work of a number of art stu dents and may be viewed dur ing school hours or by special appointment until the begin ning of summer school.
