Construction Funds Authorized Washington - IUPD - The Sen , ate has authorized a $879, . 684,750 military construction program 'for the next fiscal year, --nearly a third of it to build sites for nine Minuteman missile squadrons. . Action came on a voice vote after the chamber shouted down an attempt by Sen. A. S. Mike Monroney (D-Okla.) to restore authority to build 7,000 new units of Capehart military housing. Instead, the Senate sub stituted 2,000 units to be fi nanced with direct federal ap propriations. " The Air Force got the lion's there of new authorization, $486,268,000. This was nearly twice the combined sum al lotted for the Army and Navy. Authority to spend the money in the year beginning July 1, must be followed later by actual appropriations. The authorization is a ceiling on spending. ' Three hundred of the 2,000 housing units to be financed , directly were awarded to Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
