program 'for the next fiscal
year, --nearly a third of it to
build sites for nine Minuteman
missile squadrons.

after the chamber shouted
down an attempt by Sen. A.
S. Mike Monroney (D-Okla.)
to restore authority to build
7,000 new units of Capehart
military housing.
Instead, the Senate sub
stituted 2,000 units to be fi
nanced with direct federal ap
propriations. "
The Air Force got the lion's
