Oregon Withdraws Support of CCC Portland - (DPD - State Fi nance Director Freeman Holmer said Friday that Ore gon was withdrawing its fi nancial support from the Col umbia Interstate Compact commission. He made the statement at commission meeting here... Holmer also told CICC rep resentatives that Oregon was not going to continue nego tiations for the seven-state de velopment of the Columbia river. Furnace Flares An oil furnace flooded and flared up about 5 p.m. Thursday at the home of Donald W. Rasor, 3873 Table Rock rd. The resi dence is across the street from the boundary of the Med ford rural fire protection dis trict but firemen put out the blaze and stood by until Cen tral Point rural firemen ar rived. . Car Fire Firemen said that no damage resulted about 9:30 a.m. Friday from a car fire at the home of Dwight Kenner, 621 Park Place No. 5. The fire was started by a carburetor backfire. -Firemen used a piece of card board to smother the fire. Price, 594 Fifth St., Gold Hill, has completed his inital course of Ajr Force basic military train ing at Lackland AFB, Tex. He has been selected to attend the technical training course for aircraft and missile main tenance at Amarillo AFB, Tex. Price attended Crater High school, Central Point. GRADUATED Army Pvt. Nixon C. Hall, whose wife, Carol, lives at 2607 Buckshot rd., Medford, recently was graduated from the 82nd airborne division jump school at Ft. Bragg,- N. C. He entered the Army in October, and completed basic traning at Ft. Ord, Calif. He is a 1960 graduate of Medford High school. FINANCE PROCEDURES WAC Pvt. Sherry A. Funk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard T. Funk, 503 Clark st Medford, completed the eigh-week finance procedures course at the finance school, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., recently. Private Funk enter ed the Wonmen's Army Corps last December, and completed basic traning at Ft. McClellan, Ala. She is a 1960 graduate of Medford High school. GH School Entered; Nothing Missing Gold Hill - Burglars broke into Hanby Elementary school in Gold Hill early Saturday but nothing was reported missing, according to Earl Cox, Gold Hill police chief. Cox said an unsuccessful at tempt had been made to break open a vending machine. A re frigerator in the school kitch en was opened but nothing taken, Cox said. The burglary was reported by Albert R. Beman, school custodian. Beman discovered two broken windows when he entered the school Saturday morning. The burglars enter ed through one of the win dows, Cox said. Amos Schmidt, of the Lutheran church, Port land, and the Rev. John E. Simon, St. Peter's Lutheran, church, will officiate. Commit tal will be in Siskiyou Memo rial park. Mrs. Trautman was born Aug. 31, 1911, in Bessie, Okla. She lived in Medford from 1938 until 1950, when she moved to Everett, Wash., where her husband, the late Theodore Trautman, died five years ago. She was employed by the Portland headquarters of the Northwest District Council of the Lutheran church. Survivors include two sons, Paul G- Trautman and Donald D. Trautman, of Portland; her mother, Mrs. Mathilda Gem- aehlich, Medford; six brothers, John Gemaehlich, Medford; Andrew Gemaehlich, Osage, I wa; Bert Gemaehlich, Tu junga, Cqlif.; Rude Gemaeh lich, Clinton, Okla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Rupp, Medford; and Mrs. Ralph Lo- renze, Osage, Iowa, and many nieces iand nephews. Casket bearers will be Earn est Mallams, Theodore J. Guetzlaff, Reimer Peterson, G. J. Wolfe, Homer Pleyer and Merville Morse. Friends who wish may make a contri bution to a memorial fund, the name of which will be announced later. ARTHUR TROUTFETHER Grants Pass .Funeral serv ices for Arthur Troutfelher, who died May 3 et his home, 1425 Rogue River dr., Grants Pass, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the L. B. Hall Funeral home here. Mr. Troutfether was a re tired lumber grader and re sided in Selma, Ore., 17 years before moving to Grants Pass. He was born March 3, 1898, in Windom, Minn. Survivors include his wife, Audrey; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth A. HAZEL OLINGER DERTHICK Private funeral services for Mrs. Hazel dinger Derthlck, 1424 Fortune dr., Medford, who died Friday will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel in the Trees, 2100 Siskiyou blvd. The Rev. John Ilg of Sacred Heart Catholic church will officiate. Private interment will follow the service in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mrs. Derthlck was born Nov. 8, 1890, in Hood River. In September, 1925, at Mc Minnville, she was married to Wallace J. Derthick, who pre ceded her in death. Mrs. Derthick had lived in Portland until tbree years ago when she moved to live with her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Railt ton, Medford, who survives. Other survivors include a sister, Miss Mella Olinger, Salem; and two grandsons. Siskiyou Funeral Service directors are in charge of ar rangements. He had been hospitalized for medical treatment. A Medford resident for 17 years, Mr. Kounz was born March 28, 1929, in Los An geles, Calif. He attended Med ford High school and was an Oregon State college gradu ate. He was active in the Med ford Gun club. Mr. Kounz had been a sci ence teacher at Hedrick Jun ior High school 'or three years and, after a year's leave of absence for graduate study with a scholarship, he taught at McLoughlin Junior High until this spring. He entered the hospital in late March, and had been home only a few hours before his death. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. John Kounz; four chil dren, Mark Vincent, Ann Elizabeth, Rebecca Lynn, and Jeffrey Charles, all of Med ford; three aunts, and one cousin. Mariane Hedgpeth gave a spaghetti meat sauce demon stration. The meeting wst ad. journed at 3:30 p m. The next meeting will be held May 13. Culinary Cuties The regular meeting of the Applegate Culinary C u 1 1 e s 4-H cooking club met at the school cafeteria Wednesday, May 3. The first year members gave a brownie baking dem onstration to help learn the correct methods used in the county contest. While the brownies were baking a short business meeting was held. The meeting was called to order by President Adrienne Brion, and the minutes were read by Secretary Mary Pet rie. Roll call was answered by comments on the prepar ation of the brownies. The members decided to have a weiner roast at the river when it gets warm enough to swim. It was also decided to have a meeting before pre -fair time.
