Special Communion Scheduled Sunday Sunday at the 8:30 a.m. mass in Sacred Heath Catho lic church the annual father- son corporate communion day will be observed by the Knights of Columbus. Mem bers of the order are to take their sons to that service and to sit with them in a reserved section. Following the mass, Knights, their wives and children will meet at Ping's Gardens for a family breakfast. Thursday, May 11, which is the feast of the Ascension of Christ into Heaven, is a holy day of obligation. Masses will be said in the Medford church at 6, 7, 8 and 9 a.m. and 12:10 and 6 p.m. Confessions will be heard the day before at the usual hours of 4 to 8:30 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. The monthly exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sac rament devotions are sched uled for Saturday, May 13, Youths To Attend Regional Rally Approximately 75 youths are expected to be at St. Peter's Lutheran church Sat urday and Sunday for the re gional rally of the Walther league, the youth organiza tion of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod. The rally will begin with registration of guests at 10 a.m. Saturday with a banquet Saturday eve ning. The rally will adjourn with a short session on Sunday af ternoon. Sue Brumback is serving as rally chairman, and Ron Mee Is in charge of guest housing. Sunday the 11 a.m. service will be dedicated to the church's youth with the pas tor, the Rev. John E. According to Archbishop Edward D. Howard, through a pastoral letter addressed to the laity, it has been found necessary this year for the first time to set such a goal. This means, he said, "that parishioners are called upon to increase their contributions by one-third over past years." While being concerned primarily with needy and un fortunate Catholics, the nu merous Catholic Charities agencies have given assistance and guidance to persons of all ages, races and creeds from all parts of Oregon, the let ter pointed out. Assistance given to children through St. Mary's Home for boys and Christie School and Villa St. Rose for girls is one of the better known Charities' serv ices. Other affiliated agencies include Blessed Martin Day nursery, Our Lady of Provi dence nursery, Catholic Fam ily services, Catholic Services for children and the Catholic Youth Organization. Concert Scheduled By Local Academy The Rogue River Academy choir Saturday will travel to Milo Academy to present a sacred concert of hymns and anthems at 3 p.m. The 45 voice choir is under the di rection of Marvin Wilson, in structor in band and choir. The choir will be guests of Milo Academy at the Satur day morning Sabbath school and church services and for lunch prior to the concert. Milo Academy is on the Umpqua river near Milo, Ore.
