Youths To Attend
Regional Rally
Approximately 75 youths
are expected to be at St.
Peter's Lutheran church Sat
urday and Sunday for the re
gional rally of the Walther
league, the youth organiza
tion of the Lutheran Church-
Missouri Synod. The rally will
begin with registration of
guests at 10 a.m. Saturday
with a banquet Saturday eve
ning. The rally will adjourn with
a short session on Sunday af
ternoon. Sue Brumback is
serving as rally chairman, and
Ron Mee Is in charge of guest
housing.
Sunday the 11 a.m. service
will be dedicated to the
church's youth with the pas
tor, the Rev. John E. Simon,
preaching on, "Are You
Making the Only Right
Choice?" This will be a com
munion service.

Seek $60,000
For Charities
A goal of $80,000 has been
set for the annual Catholic
Charities drive being con
ducted throughout the Arch
diocese of Portland Sunday.
According to Archbishop
Edward D. Howard, through
a pastoral letter addressed to
the laity, it has been found
necessary this year for the
first time to set such a goal.
This means, he said, "that
parishioners are called upon
to increase their contributions
by one-third over past years."
While being concerned
primarily with needy and un
fortunate Catholics, the nu
merous Catholic Charities
agencies have given assistance
and guidance to persons of all
ages, races and creeds from
all parts of Oregon, the let
ter pointed out. Assistance
given to children through St.
Mary's Home for boys and
Christie School and Villa St.
Rose for girls is one of the
better known Charities' serv
ices. Other affiliated agencies
include Blessed Martin Day
nursery, Our Lady of Provi
dence nursery, Catholic Fam
ily services, Catholic Services
for children and the Catholic
Youth Organization.
A special collection for con
tributions to the archdiocesan
charities drive will be taken
at all masses Sunday In Sa
cred Heart church and at the
mission churches in Jackson
ville and Shady Cove.

Concert Scheduled
By Local Academy
The Rogue River Academy
choir Saturday will travel to
Milo Academy to present a
sacred concert of hymns and
anthems at 3 p.m. The 45
voice choir is under the di
rection of Marvin Wilson, in
structor in band and choir.
The choir will be guests of
Milo Academy at the Satur
day morning Sabbath school
and church services and for
lunch prior to the concert.
Milo Academy is on the
Umpqua river near Milo, Ore.

Paul; and another, "I am of Apollos" (3:6). Another, "I

If It were approved of heaven for Christianity to be
divided op Into various groups each looking to a human
head It would have been given approval here by Paul.
Certainly no better men could have been selected to
head the different groups. Had it been God's will Paul
would have commended the brethren and encouraged
them to go their separate ways. He did not do it. "Now
I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there
be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly
Joined together in the same mind and in the same
udgmenti'' (1:10). "No Divisions," being "perfectly
olned together," speaking the "same thing," having
'the same mind" and being of "the same judgment'
may seem unworkable to some today yet Paul plf lnly
commanded It in this passage.
There is only one way for Paul'a command to work,
that is for all of us to abandon all human ways, party
names and human creeds and accept the word of God
as our only guide in religious matters. May God help
us to have the disposition of heart to obey God in this
matter. ...

National Religious Publicity Council
Position
Mr. and Mrs. Tull visited
Medford the weekend of April
23.
They have two sons, Robert,
3, and James, 1. The family
plans to arrive in Medford in
July and spend several weeks
vacationing in Oregon before
he assumes pastoral duties
with the local Church Aug. 1.
"Spiritual Roots of the Fam
ily Tree" will be the Rev.
Edward Wulfekuehler's ser
mon at the Congregational

Mr. Wulfekuehler, minister
of the Ashland Congregational
church, is serving as interim
pastor.
It has been necessary to ad
vance the hour of the service

of May to enable Mr. Wulfe
kuehler to return to Ashland
in time to conduct worship

tomorrow. Main project will
be re-rooflng the church
building, but there will also
